Show Am. Fork Locals John Howes returned to his home here Monday from the Lehi hospital, hos-pital, where he has been receiving I treatment. I Miss Lois Greenwood returned .- home Saturday from New York City where she has been for the past seven weeks visiting with her j brother, Quenton, and wife. Miss ? Greenwood visited many places of j interest en route to New York and ; on the return trip all of which she j enjoyed very much. - i Mr. and Mrs. Charles LaFleur are happy to announce the birth of a baby boy, August 30th. Mother and babe are getting along fine. Mrs. Sadie Bromley returned to her home here Tuesday after visiting visit-ing for the past ten days with her daughter, Clarice, in Provo. Mrs. M. L. Baird was rushed to the L. D. S. hospital in Salt Lake City Saturday evening where she underwent an emergency operation. Her condition is reported to be improving im-proving nicely. She suffered from torn abdominal muscle. Among the American Fork people ! attending the funeral services of ; Secretary George H. Pratt, Mrs. Ethel Briggs, Miss Marie Briggs, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Grant, Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Lee, Max Grant, Mrs. Lyle Grant, Dr. and Mrs. Guy Richards and daughters, daugh-ters, Mildred and Lucille, Dr. and Mrs. J. F. Noyes, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Walton and Mrs. A. F. Gaisford. Max Grant spent the past week in Garfield visiting at the home of his sister, Mrs. Rulon Taylor, and family. Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Shelley and son, Paul, spent Saturday afternoon in Salt Lake City, guests at the home of Mrs. Shelley's sister, Mrs. James A. Bowlden and family. Dr.. and Mrs. Alfred Robinson of I Ogden visited last week at the homes of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Aydelotte and Mrs. Margaret Robinson. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Carter of Lehi are the proud parents of a baby girl, born August 28th. Mrs. Carter was formerly Miss Esther Wagstaff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Wagstaff of this city. Mrs. John Parker is recuperating at the home of her brother in Lehi, after having her tonsils removed on Thursday of last week. Mrs. Parker was kept at the hospital for treatment treat-ment until Monday of this week. Mr. and Mrs. Verland Johnson announce an-nounce the birth of a baby girl, Au-guest Au-guest 27th in the Lehi hospital. Mrs. Johnson was Miss Heloise Paxmar. before her marriage. All concerned, are doing nicely. A nine pound baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Francis Abel at their home early Wednesday morning. morn-ing. All concerned are getting along fine. The members of the Fire department depart-ment and their wives enjoyed an evening at Saratoga last Thursday. Swimming and a basket lunch was enjoyed. Mrs. Hans Christensen and Mrs. Joseph Dunkley were hostesses to the members of the Ladies Literary club at the Dunkley home Thursday afternoon . Mrs. Dena Grant gave a report of the book, "The Rolling Years" by Agnes S. Turnbull. Margaret Mar-garet Dunkley, Affra McNiell and Nan Chipman sang two trio numbers num-bers and Mrs. Jarvis Aydelotte gave a reading. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Humphries and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ellison were hosts to the members of the Bee Orchis club and their partners at a bon fire party in Binns Hollow Monday evening. A treasure hunt and program were also included in the evening's program. Dr. and Mrs. Harvey Fletcher left Saturday for their hame in New York City after visiting for a week at the home of Mrs. Fletcher's parents, par-ents, President and Mrs. S. L. Chip-man. Chip-man. Dr. Fletcher has just returned return-ed from California where he and four other leading scientists of the nation installed an amplifying system sys-tem in the hollywood bowl. Dr. Fletcher states that the new system enables 30 thousand people ta hear perfectly. It is the largest of its kind built in the open air and is hailed as a marvelous piece of work. Mr. Stakowshi, who recently directed the sympathony orchestra in the Salt Lake tabernacle also assisted as-sisted in the installation of the amplifyer and felt the work of Dr. Fletcher was beyond price. Many telegrams of congratulation were sent Dr. Fletcher during his stay here. |
