Show Successful Concert Held A very splendid concert was given by the Lehi, American Fork, Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove and Lincoln orchestras combined Sunday evening at 8:15. All ward services were suspended and the High School Auditorium was filled by the adult members of the Timpanogos Stake. Leo Hansen was in charge and J. W. Gillman offered the invocation. The first number was "Moonlight on the Lake" by the Ladies Glee Club of the high school followed by a mixed chorus singing "Allah's Garden" directed by Prof. E. A. Beck. A. R. Overlade, music director of the East High School of Salt Lake, and remembered here for the splendid splen-did work he did while in charge of the music in our local high school, spoke of the value of music and how a nation or town is judged by their musical accomplishment which is also an incentive for greater culture and good to our community. As guest artist he led the orchestras in the number "Men of Valor". Other numbers included "June Night", directed by E. B. Terry of Lincoln; "Colonels Party", directed by Mr. Hansen of Lehi; a reading "The Swan Song", given by Miss Ruth Robbins outstanding student in the speech department; violin solo, "Pure at the Snow", by George Reimschiisseel of American Fork High, "Londonderry Air", directed by K. J. Bird of American Fork; "Modern "Mod-ern Life Overture, Ford Poulson and closing prayer by Hyrum P. Jones. Some of these numbers had been rehearsed only twice by the group and their work was very fine. |
