Show Musical Festival Pleases Public The music festival, sponsored by the four high schools of the Alpine District, and held at American Fork Tuesday evening in the stake tabernacle, taber-nacle, was well attended by the townspeople who thoroughly enjoyed the well selected and fine rendition of the numbers. The combined orchestras of the four schools, under the direction of Prof. K. J. Bird, Mr. Terry, Mr. Poulson and Mr. Hanson, played five numbers, the most outstanding being the overture "Modern Life" composed by Moore. Special vocal numbers were presented pre-sented by the Male Glee of American Ameri-can Fork High School under the direction di-rection of Director K. J. Bird. They sang two numbers, "Moving Along" and "The Regiment Is Passing By." A violin solo "Pure as Snow" was rendered by George Reimschiissel. A Ladies Trio from Lincoln high, under the direction of Mr. Terry sang a number and Ray Robison of Pleasant Grove played a sousaphone solo. These young people, as well as their directors, are to be congratulated congratu-lated on the high type of music which they play and the finished manner in which they play it. A festival of this sort brings about a much better understanding between the young people of the various communities and also gives the parents and patrons an idea of just what other schools in the vicinity vici-nity are doing and how well the school in their own community measure up to the standards of the others. Such public demonstrations are highly desirable for the communities and students alike and should be fostered by both school and public in the future. |
