Mrs. Beatrice Stone of Garfield is staying with her brother, Joseph Shoell, who has been ill the past two weeks. Mrs. Josephine Bezzant served dinner to 26 members of her family Sunday, the family members coming to honor her on Mother's Day. Fifteen Third ward Scouts and their leaders enjoyed a weinie roast and court of honor at Battle Creek Canyon, Monday evening. Mother's Day guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Shoell were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shoell and son of Wes- ton, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Watkins and children of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Beatrice Stone of Garfield, Gar-field, Mr. and Mrs. Armond Webb and children and Mr. and Mrs. ' Boyd Webb and baby of Lehi. Henry Hardman of Salt Lake visited Sunday with Mrs. Lillian Ellis. Mrs. Rose B. Hayes was a guest of her son, Junius J. Hayes, and his family at Salt Lake on Mother's Day. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Leavitt of Price were Mother's Day visitors at the home of Mrs. Leavitt's mother, Mrs. Verda Grange. Mrs. Grange has been ill for the past month. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence A. Gamett were at Magna Sunday to visit their daughter, Mrs. Helen Smith, and her family. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Overlade and sons of Salt Lake spent? Sunday with Mrs. Mary Weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph S. Halliday spent the week-end with their son, Wren Halliday, and his family of Murray. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Carlson of Albion, Al-bion, Idaho, spent Friday and Saturday Satur-day with relatives in Pleasant Grove. Mr. and Mrs. Martell Ellis and little daughter of Murray, spent Mother's Day in Pleasant Grove. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Sorenson of Salt Lake, and little son, Jerry, visited part of the week with Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Lim. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Smith and little daughter, Patricia Ann of Salt Lake, visited on Mother's Day with Mr. and Mrs. William Stagg. Hazel West daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom West, is improving after having suffered painful cuts and bruises near Saratoga last week, when the car in which she was riding rid-ing with a 'group of young people turned over three times., A beautiful doe deer was seen on the Ole Christiansen premises Tuesday Tues-day at 10:00 a. m. and ran through ajoining lots jumping over fences and disapeared toward the foot hills. It is a curiosity to know why it would be in town when feed is green. Its right hind leg was covered cover-ed with blood where it had received some kind of injury. Mrs. George Oscarson and Mrs. George .Barton Jr. entertained Thursday night at the Barton home for the "Lucky 13 Club," a group from Lehi. Sewing, social chat, and refreshments were the evening's diversions. di-versions. Dr. and Mrs. E. A. Pearson and family spent Mother's Day with Dr. Pearson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Pearson, in Brigham City. Wesley Monson, Telegram carrier, will leave the last of the week to work with his brother, Allyn, near Burley, Idaho. Mrs. Ernest Clayton entertained 16 ladies at a dinner party Thursday evening. The decorations were in spring flowers, with pink and white tulips as centerpieces. Guests were seated and served at card tables. Bridge was the game of the evening. The George Peay family were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ethan Peay Tuesday night. The affair was in the nature of a house warming, warm-ing, as Mr. and Mrs. Ethan Peay have recently moved to American Fork to make their home. Mrs. Jens P. Fugal had the pleasure pleas-ure of receiving a telephone cali from her son, Roy, who is living in New York, on Mother's Day. Waste water from a neighbors lot, which had been running all night Tuesday, caused considerable damage dam-age to Mrs. Beveridge, a widow. Water covered her garden and drowned her baby chicks and rabbits. rab-bits. Mrs. Beveridge's home is in a low spot and water to the depth of one foot covered her garden plot. Mrs. Nora Macfarlane entertained the Mothers club at the home of Mrs. Edna Newman Thursday afternoon. af-ternoon. Mrs. Lucille H. Walker reviewed re-viewed the play, "The First Year" by Frank Craven, and read a letter she had received from the author. New officers for the Mothers club were elected at this meeting as follows: fol-lows: Sarah Clark, president; Kate Jacobs, vice president; Arvilla Harvey, Har-vey, secretary and treasurer. Outgoing Out-going officers were riena Beck, Oral i Wright and Nettie Gamett. n |
