Show TRAINING SCHOOL STUDENTS STUD-ENTS WRITE POEMS The following three poems were written by students at the State Training School here and are exemplary ex-emplary of the type of work the students are submitting to their instructors: in-structors: SPRING We are all waiting for Spring, For . the glad time it shall bring When meadow lark and blue birds gay Their songs so cheerfully they say; "Spring is here, Spring is here," they said, As I jumped from my warm bed Spring is here, Spring is here sang the blue birds I can not -understand just their words Time of year when flowers bloom so bright O, my what a glorious sight I hear some one say this thing Bring your rope, jump and play for spring. GOLDIE HANSEN EXPERIENCE As I was walking down the mountain moun-tain brink A little spring. I spied; I sat by the sparkling spring and took a drink, Just then I looked and cried, "A bear! a bear"! on the rocky grim He looked so boldly in my face I really got quite mad at him, Seems he knew exactly just the place- The little brown bear acted so gentle and free He looked, I looked Up close I went so I could see The little brown bear by the sparkling brook. The little cub and I went back to camp I carried him all the way. As nice as I treated the. little scamp He ran away the very next day. ByGrace Curtis. HAPPY DAYS We are all waiting1 for the spring, For the good time it shall bring, We hear meadow larks and robins singing We grasses green and flowers blooming-Children blooming-Children happy as can be Shouting loud with merry glee Singing, swinging all day long All out doors for it makes us strong. In the spring the farmer sows his seed How hard he works to keep out weeds. Sunshine and rain makes the seeds come out. Mr. Farmer, you are a scout. Yes! we welcome the warmer days, For every one out door plays, Come join the happy crowd today, All gayly sing and play. |
