Show Short Stories From the Bible By C. V- Hansen FOREWARD Hall Cam, writer of many tales, once said: "There is no book in the world like the bible, and the finest novels ever written fall far short in interest of any of the stories it tells." Woodrow Wilson made this state - ment: "The Bible is the word of life. You will find it full of real men and women." How many people there are in the world, who do not realize that between be-tween the covers of that "Good Old Book" we call the Bible, are hundreds hun-dreds of the most interesting stories, we know not But upon these stories have been based many of the novels and the plays of the world's literature. In it, we find tales of youths who have become great warriors and kings, tales of battle, tales of wan- derings, tales of love, of mystery, of mighty adventure, tales of treachery and cunning, tales of loyalty, tales of mercy and compassiom It is crommed full with men and women, and youths and maidens, who lived their lives in those ancient times where now only tsmouldering ruins remain to mark where they moved about, and fought the battles of life, which directs the lives of humanity in general today. It is with a desire to make these men and women, these shepherd lads, these warriors, these mothers, these prophets and kings, of the misty past seem just a little more real in our modern day, that the writer assumed the responsibility in a humble way to write "Short Stories from the Bible" to follow. These stories will be written without with-out embroidery or ornamentation, without comment or interpretation, merely rephrasing the words that were written in the days of old, with the hope that those who read may be moved upon to turn back to the Bible, itself, there to read them in their original and beautiful form. |
