Show Ten Years Ago 1 Now (Taken from files of Sept. 1, 1933) Mrs. Julia Goode Webb, age G7, for many years a resident of this city, died at the home of her daugh- jter, Mrs. Theresa Triptoe of Salt Lake last Friday after an illness of several months. Mrs. Webb slipped upon ice at the Third ward chaiiel last winter and injured her side, snoe which time she has not been j in the best of health and moved to I Salt Lake to be with her daughter. Funeral services were held in the Third ward chapel here Tuesday I afternoon, with George Abel presiding. presid-ing. Ten Years Ago Now P. ' M. Nielsen, formerly principal of the local high school, and who jleft to assume the .superinlendency 'of the Tooele District schools, tendered tend-ered his resignation as president of the Commercial Club. A special meeting of the directors will be lxid to consider the apointment of his successor. Ten Years Ago Nov) All is in readiness for the opening of the schools in the Alpine District Ion September 14th. Class work will formaUy begin September 17th. A number of changes and repairs have been made throughout the district. The south entrance of the hi(;h school has been enlarged some -and jwill be used by the students instead of the west entrance. A new boiler Und radiation has been installed In I this building also. Miss Jusie Greenwood, formerly j principal of the Harrington building, will supervise the primary grade work in the district this year. Ten Years Aco Now The death of Mrs. John L. Hutch, young matron of Highland, was felt !deeply in Hltih'.and by many friends and associates. Mrs. Hutch died 'Friday, August 24th, after a severe illness of two years. She was 39 I years of ar:e. Short wrvlces wero : held in Highland Sunday morning and in Woods Cross the same afternoon, after-noon, interment being made there. The .second annual Alpine stake day of the Troop and Day of the j Swarm will be held Friday, September Septem-ber 7th, at Saratoga. Mr. and Mr.s. Joseph. Marsh of Alpine are rejoicing over the arrival 'of a baby girl, born Sunday. |
