Show Boy Scout Organization Organ-ization Named Reed H. Robinson was made the chairman of the Boy Soout committee commit-tee at a meeting held Wednesday night in the tithing office when a complete re-organizalion of the committee com-mittee of this district was effected under the direction of the Alpine stake presidency. The old committee was made up of a number of men who had given service for it number of years as well as those who were named at a more recent time. The entire old committee was honorably released as follows: Clarence A. Grant, chairman; chair-man; West Hammond, first vice chairman; A. B. Allen, second vice chairman; Eli J. Clayson, secretary; Reed H. Robinson, Vanguard commissioner; com-missioner; Charles B. Walker, Scout commissioner; Wm. Chipman, finance fin-ance director; Dr. V. F. Houston, health and safety director; Thomas .Priday, camping director; Earl Holm-I Holm-I stead, reading director; I. L. Pratt, educational publicity director; Reed H. Robinson, chairman of the Court I of Honor; Dr. Alan Pearson, leadership leader-ship training director; C. A. Grant, troop organization; Eli J. Clayson, civic service director. The new committee named Wednesday Wed-nesday night is as follows: Reed H. Robinson, chairman; A. B. Allen, first vice chairman; Charles B. Walker, second vice chairman; Irving Irv-ing L. Pratt, secretary-treasurer; Charles B. Walker, district scout commissioner; William Chipman, troop organization director; Albert Tregaskis, civic director; Dr. H. H. ; Ramsay, health and safety director"; Irving L. Pratt, educational publicity director; Earl Holmstead, reading director; Thomas S. Priday, camp-; ing director; and Reed H. Robinson, chairman Court of Honor. j There are still several vacancies on the committee which will be filled in j the very near future. These are the ' Vanguard District commissioner, the Finance director and Leadership training director. I The new committee chairman,' Reed H. Robinson, is well qualified for the office he has accepted. He has had considerable experience in both Boy Scout and Vanguard work, having been a Boy Scout leader in j the Third ward, and has been Vanguard Van-guard leader ever since this department depart-ment was instituted in the state. He has been a' member "of the district committee for years and has the qualifications that make for a successful suc-cessful leadership. A meeting of the new committee has been called for the second Wednesday Wed-nesday night of April at 8 o'clock jhad secured a deed of conveyance across his mining claim. Inasmuch as this had been arranged by a previous prev-ious agreement with Mr. Higgs it was understood no action would be taken by the city. A letter was received from the Deer-Creek-Utah Lake Project containing con-taining excerpts from the articles of incorporation approved by the United Unit-ed States Reclamation Bureau in connection with the proposed water company. Inasmuch as the city was not in a position to take definite action ac-tion relative to this matter the same was ordered filed. A suggestion made by Owen Humphries Hum-phries that RFC help be utilized in trimming shade trees throughout the city received the unanimous approval ap-proval of the council and the matter was referred to the street superintendent superin-tendent for action. Councilman Bert Christensen reported re-ported his attendance at the Deer Creek Utah Lake meeting held at Provo recently where the city was asked to join the Metropolitan Wat-,,er Wat-,,er Co. Mr. Christensen stated he assured the group that the council would consider the matter and notify noti-fy them. The matter of the purchase of a new police car was considered at length and it was finally decided un- animously that the best interests ot the city could be best served by such a purchase. Lee Halstrom and Martin Mar-tin Nielsen, local automobile reore-scntatives reore-scntatives both met with the council and presented propositions on newj cars, repair jobs on the old one, etc., : and a representative of the Ply- J mouth company aLo presented a' figure. The council however, merely j made a decision that a car wuuld be purchased but not as to the type nor : make. j Report was made by Councilman Christensen that tewenty-seven out: of thirty hedges and fences had been! removed from the city cemetery and the appearance had been greatly I improved. Ho suggested that, all' wooden head and foot boards be re- I moved and that work at the ceme-j tery be commenced March 16th toj get ready for water April 1st instead of April 15th on account of the weather. The cemetery committee was asked to take action on this, matter. A complaint was again received j relative to the condition of Main street on the corner of Second West and the matter was referred to the city recorder to contact the State j Road Commission in regards to the correction of this condition. |
