Show Ward Play i Pleases Crowds "Square Crooks," the three-act 3 comedy-mystery play presented in the First ward last Thursday and 1 Friday nights, was well received byi1 both audiences. Thursday night the , 1 play was presented for the members of the ward on their ward activity tickets, and Friday's performance 1 was for the general public. The chapel was filled beyond capacity Thursday night and was well filled for the show Friday night. The play is somewhat dnterentl from the usual in that comedy and , mystery is both intermingled to make the production interesting to the last line. Usually a play is either one or the other but not often both. The acting received the best, commendation that has been ac-( corded local talent for some time. Each person seemed to fit into the, part he could best portray, and lifted ( the presentation out of the "home talent" class. I Mrs. Nona Cheever, Mrs. Faye, Beck Clarence A. Grant and Ray-j mond Adams played the leading, parts and the scenes of domestic, tranquility (?) portrayed brought many a laugh from the audience. "Bun" Shelley and Mrs. Nona Gaisford in the Irish character roles, , handled their parts with ease and took care of the brogue admirably. Stanford Steele, as the tough gun-( gun-( man, sent chills through the crowd . with his muderous looks and actions. . Miss Merline Gardner as "Sorrow the maid, depicted her negro part very well, as did Karl Bennett who . was the smart detective who was outwitted in the big clunax Mr v Hannah Aydelotte as the society leader who "saves the day" and SS. Gillespi, detective ade, : in minor roles, did well ga The Play was directed by Mrs. 1 Ma? Greenwood and Mrs. Nona 5 Gaisford. Mrs. Haydee Iverson r assisted as prompter.
