Mrs. Jennie Cunningham and her daughter, Mrs. Mazell Davis of Lthi, motored to Stockton Thursday Thurs-day of last week to see Mrs. Cunningham's Cun-ningham's sister, Mrs. Stella Mills. When they arrived they found the home quarantined and Mrs. Mills suffering from a very severe case of small pox. She was on the improve, im-prove, however. J Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Bowman (Olive ' Berg) and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Peterson (Vida Berg) and children arrived Sunday from Alhambra, California, called by the death of Mrs. Bowman and Mrs. Peterson's sister's husband, Ernest D. Webb. Mrs. Melvin Anderson and her mother, Mrs. Sarah Davis, left for Los Angeles the latter part of the week after spending ten days here with Mr. and Mrs. Willis Fredricks and their relatives. The Andersons moved to California in the spring and Mrs. Davis has been enjoying an extended visit with tiiem there. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Berg and son, Jack, with their daughter, Mrs. Marie B. Brown of Salt Lake motored mot-ored to American Falls, Idaho, Saturday Sat-urday morning and, returned that evening accompanied by Mrs. Ernest Webb, (Alta Berg) and her small son who will remain here indefinitely. indefin-itely. Wednesday evening Dr. and Mrs. James S. Chadwick entertained at a bridge party. Dr. V. F. Houston won the high score prize. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Lige Chipman, Mr. and Mrs. David Taylor, Tay-lor, Dr. and Mrs. V. F. Houston, Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Briggs, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Sykes and Mrs. Mark Coddington. A large number of friends and relatives from this city were in attendance at-tendance Tuesday afternoon at the funeral services of Ernest D. Webb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest N. Webb of Lehi and husband of tl former Miss Alta Berg of this cr' who died in American Falls, Idaho last Saturday morning following an operation for appendicitis. Leo T. Shelley of this city was one of tl speakers, -and Ray Shelley, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Mary Humphries sang "Face To Face" during the services. Bishop G. Edward Abel and Francis Fran-cis Abel made a trip last Saturday afternoon to Preston Idaho, being called by the illness of then- father, George E. Abel, who was in the hospital. hos-pital. They brought him and then-mother then-mother back Sunday evening. Mr. Abel is confined to his bed suffering suffer-ing from pneumonia and heart trouble trou-ble and he was very ill during the week, but Thursday morning was reported improved. Mr. and Mrs. Abel had gone north to visit then-daughter, then-daughter, iRosa, and family near Preston and Mrs. Abel was not feeling feel-ing well when they left here. Am. Fork Locals Mr. and Mrs. Rodney A.shby of Leamington, spent last week-end here with Mr. A-shby's brother, R. L. A. hby and family. Mark Coddington left for the herd Sunday after spending a week here with his wife and son. The herd now is out on the east desert. Mrs. Lewis Garrett of Nephi spent last week-end in this city, a Ettest of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Allen and family. Mrs. Garrett is Mrs. Allen's mother. Mrs. Joseph Walton entertained twelve small friends of her son, Kaye, Wednesday afternoon the occasion oc-casion being his fourth birthday. Games were enjoyed by all and refreshments re-freshments were served, including the birthday cake. Mr. and Mrs. Adair Bromley are the happy parents of a winsome baby daughter, born Tuesday. The new arrival has two brothers. The 1110 titer, formerly Miss Margaret Green, and the babe are doing nicely- A Valentine scheme predominated in the decorations of the party given by Mrs. Sherman Robinson and Mrs. Glen Robinson for the members of the Feality Club and their husbands and several special guests last Saturday Satur-day night at the Sherman Robinson home. Monte Carlo Whist was played play-ed and prizes during the evening were won by Mrs. Walter Steffen, Harry Parker, Harvel Bennett, John Wing and Mrs. George Moss. A delicious de-licious Junch was served. Those present were Messrs. and Mesdames Norman Wing, John Wing, Harvel Bennett, Stanford Wilde, Mrs. Walter Wal-ter Steffen, Mrs. Ralph Davis and Mrs. Jesse Burch and the special guests were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Parker of Salt Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. George Moss. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Whipple of Nephi and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gadd of Provo, were Sunday afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Clyde. Gifts of Valentine Flowers will please her. Among the students placed on the honor roll for the autumn quarter of the Brigham Young University, is Morrel Ashby of this city, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Ashby, a student in the senior college. Mr. and Mrs. I. L. Pratt attended a meeting of the members of the Veteran Volunteer Firemen and the Ladies Auxiliary held in the veteran's vete-ran's hall in Salt Lake City Wednesday Wednes-day night. A social followed the business meeting. Miss Madeline Robinson entertained entertain-ed at her home last Saturday evening. eve-ning. Games and music were enjoyed en-joyed by the guests as was the dainty dain-ty lunch. Mrs. S. T. Shelley was hostess last Thursday afternoon to the Bee Orchis Or-chis club. The decorations and color scheme of the luncheon were of Valentine suggestion. The afternoon after-noon was spent in sewing and social chat followed by the serving of a tasty lunch. The members present were Mesdames Earl Holmstead, Vem Walker, G. A. Anderson, Ray Ellison, Frank Humphries, James Tattersoll, Ed Moss, Earl Carlisle, Hayden Holindrake, Earl Barratt, Sidney Nicholes Jr., John Sager, Harry Steele, Warren Anderson and Bert Timpson, and the special guests were Mrs. J. Sanford Walker of Pleasant Grove, Mrs. Hannah Good-all Good-all and Mrs. June S. Wright. Mrs. Ed Moss will be hostess to the club 'on Thursday, February 15th. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Anderson and son Harold and Miss Edith Thornton were among the business visitors in the capitol city last Saturday. Satur-day. Mrs. A. B. Mrs. Clarence Growers and child- ren of Nephi are spending two weeks here with Mrs. Growers' parente, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Clyde. Hyrum Clayson of Payson spent last week-end in American Fork visiting with his brother, Eli Clay-son, Clay-son, and his sister, Mrs. Joseph Searle and their families. Kenneth Beck is celebrating his twelfth birthday today and for the occasion has invited twelve friends to be guests at his home at a party this evening. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Halliday and son, Max of Ogden, sent Monday here with Mr. and Mrs. Byron Crookston and with Mr. Halliday's mother, Mrs. C. B. Halliday who is visiting the Crookstons. G. Earl Wootton of Salt Lake City spent the week-end visiting here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Wootton. Earl is attending the Western Electric College, taking a course in Radio Operating. Dr. and Mrs. James S. Chadwick entertained at a bridge party Saturday Sat-urday evening. Three tables were played progressively, Walter Devey winning the prize. Those present were Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth E. Noyes, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Devey, Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Nicholes, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Chipman and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Smith of Denver, Colorado. The 87th birthday anniversary of Martin Hansen was the occasion for a family supper at his home Tuesday Tues-day evening, January 30th. During the afternoon he enjoyed visiting with a brother and sister, James Hansen and Caroline Adams. A delicious de-licious supper was served to thirty guests, including children, grand-3 grand-3 children and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Garn Carter and children of Provo left for Los An-genles, An-genles, California, last week to make their home. The Carters spent several sev-eral days here prior to their departure depar-ture for the coast with Mrs. Carter's Car-ter's mother, Mrs. Jennie Cunningham Cunning-ham and family here. Mrs. C. B. Halliday of Sugar City, Idaho, is spending the week here 1 with Mr. and Mrs. Byron Crookston. Crook-ston. The deal is being completed this week whereby the Hallidays are purchasing the C. A. Pierson home on West Main Street. Mr. and Mrs. Halliday will remain in Idaho however and the Piersons will remain re-main in their home until May. |
