Show Ordinance To ' Regulate Beer Sale Passed An ordinance governing the sale of beer was passed by the members 1 of the city council in a special ses- 1 sion held Monday night. The or- ' dinance provides for the licensing, 1 regulation, and control of beer con- 1 tainlng in excess of one-half of one per cent of alcohol by volume and not to exceed 3.2 per cent of alcohol by weight. The ordinance provides also for penalties for the violation thereof and repeals all other ordinances ordin-ances in conflict with the same. The ordinance appears elsewhere in this issue. Several other items of city business busi-ness were considered at this meeting. meet-ing. Information was received from Attorney General Joseph Chex calling call-ing the council's attention to the fact that the 1933 statutes regulating regu-lating traffic requires all municipalities. TO DEFINE THE TRAFFIC BOUNDARIES of "Business District" Dist-rict" and "Residence Districts " thus making it possible to prove traffic violations. The wisdom of passing appropriate ordinances to conform with these state statutes, and providing for the erection of proper sign posts was discussed and referred to the street committee to confer with the city attorney and have such ordinances drawn for the consideration of the council. Information was received from George P. Parker to the effect that by the cleaning out of the sloughs and ditch in the mosquito control projects that the water thus developed devel-oped was not subject to appropriation appropria-tion but is the private water of those owning the land from which the seeps or upon which the wells are located. |
