Show o Daughters of Pioneers Pio-neers Meeting The American Fork camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers met in the assembly room of the city hall Thursday at 2 p. m. and a very interesting in-teresting program, was given with the newly elected officers in charge for the first time. Mrs. Hazel Shelley Shel-ley led the group in singing, "Come, Come Ye Saints," accompanied by Mrs. Sidney Noyes and Mrs. Lizzie Earl offered prayer. The regular business of the camp was taken care of, minutes being read by Sadie Chipman. William Elsmore-and his daughter, Guelda Lithroe, sung "When Irish Eyes are Smiling", accompanied by Earl Kelly. The life history of William Wil-liam Kelly was given by Mrs. Eleanor K. Nicholes and Earl Kelly gave two selections on the piano. Guelda Lithroe and Earl Kelly are grandchildren grand-children of William Kelly. Mrs. Nell B. Smart of Provo, read the history of her grandfather, Edwin Ed-win Buckwalter, after which Mrs. Margaret Green Bromley sang, "The! West a Nest and You", accompanied by Mrs. Detta Buckwalter. A poem, composed by a member of the Buck-waiter Buck-waiter family and read at the reunion re-union held this year in Philadelphia, was read by Mrs. Detta Buckwalter. Mrs. Bertha Sagers gave a very interesting account of the history of Johnston's army. America was the closing song and prayer was offered by Chaplain Mary E. Abel. The Adams Camp of the Daughters Daught-ers of the Utah Pioneers met last Thursday in the basement of the' j tabernacle with fifty members pres-! lent. The biographical .sketch of I I Oliver Thornton was given by a! I granddaughter, Hat tie S. Snow of Provo. Mrs. Sylvia T. Peterson of Pleasant Grove, read the life sketch of her grandfather, Oliver Evans Thornton, and Miss Zella Hansen1 read that of her grandfather, Tho-1 mas Ephriam Thornton. The life of Pri.sciila Covington Thornton was' read by Miss Lola Hansen, a grand-1 daughter. A musical quartet composed of Nan Wright, Pearl Adams, Leo Han-, sen and Bert Timpson sang, "The' Pioneers." Doloris Cunningham sang "The Old Spinning Wheel" and Zella and Lola Hansen played a gui-l tar duet. The closing song by the congregation was "Count Your ' Blessings", and Chaplain Sarah A. Shelley offered prayer. i |
