Show o Last Respects To Mrs. Madsen Paid At Funeral Here The many friends of Mrs. Sarah Eliza Wood Madsen paid a last tribute tri-bute to her, at funeral services Friday Fri-day afternoon in the First L. D. S. ward chapel. Orval Mercer officiated officiat-ed at the services. Mrs. Madsen, 72, wife of Marius Madsen, died here Monday of last week of apoplexy. The services included an opening duet by Mrs. Ora Chipman and Moral D. Steele, followed by invo- cation by E. Ray Gardner. Vocal solos were given by Ray Shelley and Mrs. Edith Young. President David O. McKay and Mrs. George Bingham were the principal speakers. Orval Mercer spoke briefly. James T. Gardner dedicated the grave in the American Fork cemetery. Pallbearers were James T. Gardner, Moroni Wilde, George Bingham, James E. Spratley, Ernest Lloyd and Lot Robinson. Out-of-town people who attended the funeral included three of Mrs. Madsen's four brothers, Charles S. Wood of Burley, Idaho; and Frederick Fred-erick and Benjamin Wood of Hunts- ville; her three sisters, Mrs. Kath-erine Kath-erine Mozelle Meisner and Mrs. Chloe Adele Doxey of Ogden, and Mrs. Laura McCarthy of Los Angeles. Ange-les. A brother, Joseph Wood of Everett, Washington, was unable to attend, as was a daughter, Mrs. Ann Jackson of San Diego, California. Surviving besides her husband, Marius Madsen, are eight daughters, Mrs. Neita Sullivan of San Francisco, Francis-co, Mrs. Florence Leona Palmer of Detroit, Mrs. Ada Stratton of Aberdeen, Aber-deen, Idaho; Mrs. Myrtle Prestwich of Provo; Lillian Shafter Spencer of American Fork, Mrs. Jackson; Mrs. I Evelyn Holmstead of Lehi, and Mrs. Vivian Ray of Copperton; and two , sons, Leonard Marius Madsen of I Taft, California, and Melvin LeRoy Madsen of Monrovia, California. n . |
