Show Pleasant Grove Locals A special Mother's day program will be presented in the Manila L. D. S. ward Sunday morning. Bryce Wadley, Sunday School suierintend-ent, suierintend-ent, is in charge. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Howard and two children of Murray were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Harper. Miss Amy Walker is reported to be improving at the L. D- S. hospital in Salt Lake City, following a serious illness. Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Swenson. R. D. Wadley and W. W. Warnick attended at-tended the funeral of J. M. Mac-Farlane Mac-Farlane In Salt Lake City Thursday. Dinner guests at the A. P. War-nick War-nick home Friday of last week were Mr. and Mrs. D- B. Terry, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Newman, Mr. and Mrs. Don Dixon, and Mr. and Ms. Par-nell Par-nell Peterson. On Sunday, Mrs. ' Warnick entertained in honor of the birthday of her mother, Mrs- N. West. Mrs. Genevieve Ellsworth of Provo visited friends and relatives in Pleasant Grove Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Burton Adams spent Wednesday in Salt Lake City, on a combined business and pleasure trip. Dr. and Mrs. G. Y. Anderson were hosts at a party at the Bromley club rooms at American Fork Thursday night. Thirty-five attended. Mrs. A. P. Warnick has been elected president of the Lincoln Ladies' club, relatives here report. Louise Banks, Mary Jacobs, Byrle Lewis and Thelma Swenson spent Thursday in Brigham, visiting with their friend, Mrs. Howard Harker. Bishop and Mrs. Frank D. Atwood and Fred Shoell attended the funeral fun-eral of J. M. Macfarlane, father of J. M. Macfarlane of Pleasant Grove, at Salt Lake City Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Jacobs, and Mr. and Mrs. Karl Banks spent Saturday in Heber, visiting with Mr. Jacobs' mother, Mrs. Hugh Jacobs. Mrs. H. E. Bradley entertained for her club of Provo ladies at her home Friday of last week. Attending were Mrs. G. T. Braun, Mrs. Clyde Clark, Mrs. Van Beebe, and Mrs. Mike Bean, all of Provo. Guests were Mrs. G. Y. Anderson, Mrs. S. W. Hilton and Mrs. Eldon McKell. Mrs. McKell won first prize, and Mrs. Clark, second. Mr. and Mrs. H. V- SVenson have received word from Elder Olsen. their son's missionary companion, that Calvin is convalescing after an illness of pneumonia- Calvin is in Trandhjem, Norway. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill N. Warnick and son. Robert, Mrs. C. P. Warnick, and Mrs. L. M- Atwcod spent Saturday, Sat-urday, Sunday and Monday in Montana, Mon-tana, visiting relatives there. They called on Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Warnick, War-nick, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Warnick and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Wright, at Fort Shaw and Simms. They report that the Blaine Warnicks have a baby girl, born on April 19; and that the C. L. Wamicks are well located now in a fine section. More than 150 dancers and M. I. A. officers from Lehl, Alpine, Sharon, Shar-on, Utah and Timpanogos stakes attended a dancing demonstration and practice in the high school gymnasium gym-nasium here Wednesday night. W-O. W-O. Robinson, dance director of the general board, and his assistant directed di-rected the practice, which is for the June 10 festival in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Harold Wright and Elroy West, stake leaders, and the stake board, made local arrangements for the affair. Mary Armitstead, formerly of Pleasant Grove, is reported to be seriously ill at the L. D. S. hospital in Salt Lake City. Members of the firemen's auxiliary auxil-iary met at the home of Mrs. J. Kemp Thursday night. A program was given, featuring a lesson on first aid by a guest speaker, and refreshments refresh-ments were served. Mrs. Stella Young has received word of the birth of a grandson. The new arrival, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Bowen, of Wheeler's Ridge, California, was born on April 13. Mrs. Bowen is the former Melba Young. Anson B. Call of St. George, agricultural ag-ricultural agent, and former Utah county agent, and Mrs. Call visited with friends and relatives here Sunday. Sun-day. Mrs. H. E. Bradley entertained her brothers and their wives and an uncle at dinner Sunday of last week. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Gunderson of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Gunderson of Mammoth, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Gunderson Gun-derson of Eureka, Martin Gunderson Gunder-son of Eureka, Mr. and Mrs. Quay Gunderson of Mammoth, and an uncle, Albert Gunderson of Santa-quin. Mr. and Mrs. Harold S. Walker and J. L. Harvey were guests at a dinner party given by Mrs. S. R. Chipman at her home on Douglas avenue, in Salt Lake City, Sunday. Mrs. Jack Rogers and Mrs. Karl Banks were special guests at the Lincoln Ladies' party at the Riverside River-side cafe at Provo, Monday afternoon. after-noon. Members of the fire department will meet at the fire station Monday night, josiah Kemp, chief, has announced. an-nounced. A session of the firemen's class will feature the meeting. Coach Earl Giles' Pleasant Grove high school track team will compete at Provo today in the Region 3 meet. Schools from Nebo, Tintic, Alpine and Provo districts will participate. |
