Show 14th Annual Sunset Rally Scheduled for Sunday The M. I. A. of the Manila ward will hold their annual Sunset Rally Sunday evening at Ihe ward chapel. Just at sunset the program will be given in front of the building on the large cement approach. For the :past 14 years the Sunset Rally has i been held as an out-of-docr pro-pram, pro-pram, where the audience sits in i their vuit -mobiles or cm seats arranged ar-ranged for the occasion on the j grounds. When the new chapel was built a few years age, provisions were made for the accommodation of all I programs that would be presented at I this out-of-door Rally. There are nine steps leading up to the first elevation where there is ample room for seating a large audience. Near the building is another elevation with steps leading to a large cement platform with the building itself as a background. Music is distinctly heard from here by all who are in the audience. It gives the speaker an ideal position, where the voice carries readily to each eager listener. This elevation commands a view of Utah Valley that is unsurpassed. The speaker at the first Sunset Rally was President Nephi L. Morris of the Salt Lake Stake who was followed by Oscar A. Kirkham, Winslow Smith, Clarence E. Nelsen, Edward Hinkley, Wm. A. Morton, Thomas Martin, Apostle -David.. O. McKay, Stanier Richards with the Highland Park ward choir, Judge Oscar McKonkie, John M. Knight and Adam S. Bennion and Bishop Heber C. Iverson. The speaker this year will be Prof. George H. Hansen of the B. Y. TX, professor of Geology. He will speak on the text: Isiah 11:2 And it shall come to pass in the last days that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills: and all nations shall flow unti it". The musical program will consist of the songs: "O Ye Mountains High", "For the Strength of the Hills" and "Let the Mountains Shout for Joy". They will be sung by a double mixed quartette from the Provo High School ar-ranged for by Mrs. Velma Rasmussen, formerly of Manila ward, and conducted by Professor Ernest Paxman. The opening number, just at sunset, sun-set, will be a comet duet by Ronald i Price and Leland Hadfield, accompanied accom-panied by Madius Johnson, under the direction of Prof. Abe Anderson of the Lehi High School. The invocation will be given by the stake president of the M. I. A., Hy-rum Hy-rum P. Jones, and the benediction by James H. Walker. C. L. Warnick1 and Mrs. Fern Edwards, president of the M. I. A. will be in charge. n |
