Show Department -work -was held in which a brief outline of .the year's work was taken tip. The year-around program of the stake was announced and will include in-clude the following events: Ward road shows between October Octo-ber 20th and 25th. Tri-stake road shows 'November 7 th. Stake drama Latter part of November. No-vember. Christmas pageant December. Gold and Green Ball January. M. Men-Gleaner Banquet Feb- ruary. Stake Hobby Show March. Junior Festival April. Bee Hive and Honor Days May. Interesting Talk Given on Useful Hobbies At the M. "X A. union meeting held Monday night In the stake tabernacle, tab-ernacle, the part useful hobbies play in the lives of busy people was forcefully force-fully demonstrated. Hobbies is one of the new appreciation courses introduced in-troduced this year. Howard Matthews Mat-thews of Bingham, an electrical engineer en-gineer by trade, was present upon invitation of the officers, and displayed dis-played his pet hobby, a home made telescope. Mr. Matthews, it was explained, ex-plained, has in his leisure time delved delv-ed into scientific fields and with the expenditure of little money has developed de-veloped his hobby to a high degree. After the meeting all present were invited outside where the telescope had been set up and were given an opportunity of viewing the moon, 'the craters of which were plainly visible, as well as .other heavenly bodies. Mr. Matthews had ground the lens himself and the power of the apparatus spanned the distance to the moon, bringing it within a thousand miles of this earth. . |
