Show Business llafiilled By Council in Regular Session City council convened in regular session Saturday with Mayor Lewis K. Olpin in charge. The petition of Mr. II. W. West to j have the city well put in condition to ' j supply him with sutlicient water for culinary use, waa left with theWater ! Works Committee with power to act. 1 j Ten dollars was appropriated to as- ! sist in defraying expenses of euter-j euter-j taining the old folks in response to a i request of Hans Williamson, com-I com-I xnitteeman. i1 The .following appointive officers met with the council to receive instructions, in-structions, and to present their bonds, i which were approved and ordered filed by Mayor Olpin; A. G. Winters, j marshal; Hensen Nielson, water works superintendent; Martin Peter, son, sexton; Heber Gardner, police; Duanne Harper, poundkeeper; J. O. Clark, city justice and J. Kemp, fire chief. By motion of Councilman Dickerson, the sexton was instructed to discontinue discon-tinue the collection of fees for recording re-cording deaths. Chairman Clark of City Property j Commitee, was instructed to make ' further investigation regarding the j grade and price of hose .for the fire i department, before making purchase, j The matter of disposing of light ! brackets, old hose carts and other material stored in the Library build-i build-i ing was left with the Chairman of ' City Property with power to act. , Chairman Fugal, of the Cemetery Committee, presented plans and . specifications of the proposed exten-1 exten-1 sion of the pipe fence at the cemetery and was authorized by motion made ty Councilman Dickerson, to proceed I to call for bids for oenstruction of the s, same. The petition of citizens and mem bers of the Second ward bishopric to open street running north from the n head of Main street to the cemetery, was left with the Streets Committee a; to investigate and report back at the I next regular meeting. ', Relative to the purchase of a truck W to be used in the water works depart, d ment, motion was made by Council- man Clark tat the water works corn-it corn-it inittee be authorized to make pur- chase, providing truck is in good I mechanical condition. Motion carried. The appointment of the following wl firemen as recommended by Chief Kemp were confirmed by the council: ' C. J. Williamson assistant chief; Ike Hayes secretary, treasurer and -mechanic; Hans Williamson, mechanic. mechan-ic. J. D. Thorne, fire police; Ray Frampton, electrician; C. R. Clark and H. R.
