Show f ' i i - ' I 1 " '- l i i i f fi x - 1 SAMUEL GREENWOOD Greenwood Family Honors Oldest Member Honoring Samuel Greenwood, the oldest living man born in American Pork, the Greenwood family held a reunion Wednesday night at Firm-age Firm-age Hall. Mr. Greenwood was 85 years old on that day. He was born in 1852, the son of Alice Haughton and William Greenwood, who had joined the church in England and emigrated to America. Out of a family of 15, Samuel is the only one living. In the year 1875 Sam married Ellen El-len Julian in the Endowment House in Salt Lake. To this union seven children were born, four of whom are still living: Earl Greenwood, Alice G. Smith, Juventa Paxman and C. J. Greenwood. I Mr. Greenwood has followed farrn- ing all of his life. He has been active ac-tive in the church, having served as counselor to the late Warren B. Smith in the bishopric of the Fourth ward. He is enjoying good health and can still weild the ax with vigor. Walker; Walk-er; violin selection, Grace Parker, accompanied by Lois Greenwood; reading, Mary Walton; instrumental, Lois Greenwood; original poem, Laura Timpson; closing prayer, Will Greenwood. The remainder of the evening was spent in dancing, the first dance being a comic costume dance by eight members of the Greenwood family. |
