Tonight the Juniors will be hosts at their annual Junior Promenade. As the guests arrive at the high school gymnasium they will enter a "Winter Wonderland," made with glistening snow and shining ice, snowmen and skaters. Tinkling bells and Christmas trees will contribute to the Christmas spiril along with the winter atmosphere. Howard Nelson and his seven-piece orchestra, orches-tra, and the jolly dancers dressed in the Christmas best, will complete the scene. Juniors, headed by these committees, commit-tees, have worked untiringly to make this occasion an outstanding one. "Lead us not into temptation," is the theme for the high school dance revue which will be portrayed in many moods. . January 11 and 12 are the dates for the performance and all girls taking physical education educa-tion will participate. Miss Banner said the dancing teams already chosen are: Madge Walker, LuJean Olpin, Lula Keetch, Lorraine Wad-ley, Wad-ley, Edith Stark, Louise Walker, Leah Jean Svenson, Helen Robinson, Robin-son, Beth Gillman, Lucile Halliday, Bernice Hrienson, Kathryn Olpin, Gloria Wadley, Orpha Walker, Virginia Vir-ginia Bezzant, and Mary Fugal. An interesting talk was delivered by Warren Kirk, returned missionary mission-ary from Germany, to the Pleasant Grove Seminary students on December De-cember 18. He spoke of some outstanding experiences ex-periences he had had in the missionary mis-sionary field and also of the confusion con-fusion of the German people in regard re-gard to the many different churches in Germany. He told of their attitude atti-tude toward the Mormon religion. Mrs. Carlson's food classes are making Christmas candy this week, and they are also learning how to wrap Christmas presents in many various ways. They have made fruit jar coverings cover-ings in the forms of Negro women and apples have been dressed up to look like Santa Clauses. Drucilla Loader and Floyd Backus succeeded in capturing the leads in the high school opera, "Belle of Barcelona." They will be supported by Alice Anderson, Glen Vickland, Howard Lowe, Don Hardman, Sterling Johnson, John-son, Ray Harris, June West, Beth Adams, Caroline Burns, LaVar Ash, David Halliday, Jeanne West, and Thelda Gardiner. Mr. Jensen, Mr. Simmons, and Mr. Peterson were the judges of the try-outs. try-outs. Mr. Jensen and Mr. Simmons Sim-mons will have charge of the singing sing-ing and the choruses of the opera, and Mr. Peterson, the dramatics. Pleasant Grove teams won victories vic-tories from Wasatch high, Monday, December 18. The girls' team won by a close margin of 15 to 13; then the sophomores team downed their opponents, 20 to 16. The main game was a close, hard-fought one up until un-til the half, when the score read 8 to 9 in favor of the Wasps. At the beginning of tthe second half, the Vikings began to click and by the end of the third quarter the Vikings Vi-kings had pulled away to a score of 14 to 20. Then in the last quarter. they widened the margin to 32 to 21 to end the game. The girls' basketball squad has played two games in the past week. On Monday they gained a victory of 15-13 when the played Wasatch high school in Heber. They were defeated Wednesday by a score of 21-16 when they played Lincoln at Lincoln. Following is a list of the players: Leah Wadley, Jewel Paul, Ruth Hooley, Margaret Atwood, Virginia Ellis, Helen Robinson, Helen Prest-wich, Prest-wich, Beth Hooley, Madge Hooley, Maurine Beck, Madge Walker, and Donna Eves. The team will be announced an-nounced soon. The next game will be a return one from Wasatch, on the 27th. Home Room gatherings were held Thursday afternoon in both junior and senior divisions.
