Show ALPIfOEWS Mrs. L. Bates, Reporter. Mrs. Elmo Crookston and baby son of Salt Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hunter of Bingham, were week-end guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hunter. Mrs. W. B. Smith was able to be brought to her home Sunday, after spending the past four weeks at the Lehi hospital where she underwent an operation for gallstones. Mrs. Reed Brown, Mrs. May Isaacson Isaac-son and Mr. asd Mrs. Verl Brown were guests o Mrs. Ernest Clark Monday evening. Scout Executive A. A. Anderson was the speaker at the sacrament meeting Sunday evening, the program pro-gram of which was nder the direction direc-tion cf the Primary Association. Mr. and Mrs. A. -J. Devey entertained enter-tained at a shower Wednesday evening even-ing in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Groo, who were married recently at Bountiful. Relatives and neighbors of the family from Alpine, Lehi, American Fork and Salt Lake were present. The young couple were the recipients of many beautiful and useful presents. They will make their home in Alpine. Mrs. Groo is the charming daughter of Mrs. Alice Franks of Lehi. Mr. Groo is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. M- Groo of Alpine but was taken into the Devey home at the death of his mother, when but a few weeks old, and where he has since made his home. The many friends of D. iJ. Ham. nett will be grieved to hear that he is very ill at a Salt Lake hospital. JTRS. ANNIE JAC015S0N WATKINS PASSES AWAY Mrs. Annie Jacobson Watkins, widow of the late John Watkins, pass ed away Wednesday morning, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. A. Andrews, following a lingering illness. ill-ness. Mrs. Watkins was born in Pleasant Grove about 64 years ago, the daughter of Iauritz and Matilda Anderson Jacobson. Her girlhood days were spent in Pleasant Grove until 39 years ago when she was married to John Watkins of Alpine, coming to Alpine to make their home. For a number of years before his death which occured fifteen years ago, her husband was an invalid, devoteUly cared for by his loving wife and three daughters-Mrs. daughters-Mrs. Watkins is survived by her three daughters: Mrs. Venes Andrews, An-drews, Mrs. Matilda Devey both of Alpine and Mrs. Ruby Buckley ot Ely, Nevada, and by ten grandchildren. grandchild-ren. She is also survived by several brothers and sisters and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held in the Alpine Gymnasium Sa'urday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The body may be viewed previous to the services at the home of her daughter, Mrs., Laurence Devey. ' ! |
