Show , DAUGHTERS OF PIONEERS HOLD MEETING The Pleasant Grove Camp, Daughters Daugh-ters of the Pioneers, held a meeting ! at the Log; Cabin, Wednesday, July ; 11. Captain Lucille H. Walker was in charge of the meeting. The program included singing of "Our Mountain Home So Dear"; remarks by Captain Lucille H. Walker; Walk-er; solo, "An Old Spinning Wheel", by Carol Walker. The subject of relics was discussed dis-cussed and Annie Holman displayed a muffler and an old pin formed from an English stone and gave a talk about them. Elizabeth Noble displayed a picture, pic-ture, a watch and a coin made for Queen Victoria's Jubilee. Mary Weeks told of a relic she had donated to the log cabin. Chastina Walker told of events while crossing the plains. Lurena Warnick said she had an uncle who saw Johnson's Army leave Salt Lake and one uncle who was the first male child bom in Salt Lake City. Lucille H. Walker read a patriar-j chal Blessing bestowed upon herj grandfather by the Prophet Joseph Smith's father, the first Patriarch of the church. She also read ex-! carpts from a book written in 1838 j that tells of the conversion of Brig- ham Young. Christena Warnick related the story of how Heber C. Kimball won his first wife, The closing song was "Sing We Now as Parting" and prayer was offered by Mary Weeks. |
