The beautiful yard of, L-R, Verl and Beth VVarburton is the second place yard of the year winner. Thousands of marigolds highlight the yard of, L-R, Cameron, Janice and Harry Peacock, third place winners Pleasant Grove Beautification Commission selects yards of the year The Pleasant Grove Beautification Beautifica-tion Commission has selected Lynn and Linda Walker's yard as the top Yard of the Year after a summer of honoring the Yards of the Week. The first place award went to the Walker's with second place going to Verl and Beth Warburton and third place to Harry and Janice Peacock. City Councilman Dale Warburton said that the judging was very close. He complimented the commission commis-sion for their efforts during the summer. The members of the commission include Chairman David Perry, Paulette Oveson, Connie Bullock, Keith Jensen, Frank Graham and Marvin Radmall. Spouses of the judges also helped with the selections. The city was divided into five areas including Manila, the Northeast North-east Quadrant, Southeast Quadrant, Quad-rant, Northwest Quadrant, and Southwest Quadrant. A different yard was selected for its beauty and improvement from each section each week. The city plans to continue this beautification effort each summer. Public Works Director FW Mills reported that the city had fewer complaints about unsichtlv yards this year and felt that it was due in large part to the beautifies, tion efforts. |
