The Junior Troop from Lindon performed the flag ceremony and Margaret Moore from Provo was the guest speaker. Five giris in the Cadette troop earned their Silver Award which is equivalent to the Boy Scout Eagle Award. Two senior Girl Scouts earned the Gold Award which is the highest high-est award given to a girl in scouting. scout-ing. Priscilla Udall and Rachel Udall, daughter of Dr. Marc and Ruth Udall of Lindon received their Gold Award. The received their Silver Award last year. The requirements for the Gold Award are similar to the Silver Award, but are more difficult in each area. For their project they collected clothes for the Indians in Argentina, Argen-tina, and arranged to send them down there through LDS missionaries mission-aries and others going to the area. It is impossible to send anything in the mail because it would never arrive because of the theft. The five Cadettes who earned their Silver are: Mindy Austin, daughter of Cheryl and Vaughan Austin of Lindon; Ooisrti'ipy Burns, daughter of Robert and Dale Burns of Orem; Mary Flower, daughter of Herb and Jane Flower of Orem; Ziggy Haynie, daughter of Eric and Corrine Haynie of Orem; Beth Lewis, daughter of Terry and Patricia Patri-cia Lewis of Orem. To earn their Silver Award each girl had to do 28 hours of service, 25 hours of leadership activity, career exploration patch, the Girl Scout Silver Challenge, three interest patches in addition to a big service project. Mindy organized her troop and made baby quilts to be given out to babies born during Girl Scout week in March. Courtney rented a music studio and the girls recorder camp songs. Then, she held a song clinic for all the Brownie and Junior Scouts to attend and sold tapes at cost to help other scouts. Mary and Ziggy worked with Senior Citizens making Easter eggs for Easter. Beth held a Girl Scout Party for Juliette Lowe, the founder of Girl Scouting in USA, in October.
