Americans are reported to go to the doctor 50 million times a year and spend approximately $400 million on nonprescription medicines for the relief of head-aches. Muscle tension, sinus congestion, mental depression, and blood vessel dilation are some of the more common causes of headaches. Sinus headaches result from congested or clogged sinus pas-sages in the head. The sinuses are cavities lined with mucous membranes within the facial bones. Sinus headache relief may be achieved with nonprescription pain relievers, nasal deconges-tants, and antihistamines. Nasal decongestants may help drain congested passages in the sinuses and reduce pressure in the sinus cavities. Because sinus problems are sometimes also associated with allergies, antihistamine-typ- e medicines may help relieve sinus headaches. Application of warm, moist heat over the sinuses may aid drainage and hasten the relief of headache pain. A damp towel may be used. Special heat pads arc available for this purpose, but may be difficult to find. Ilevicw - Wednesday. Deseret Bank rated among safe banks in country Deseret Bank, with an office in Pleasant Grove, was recently iden-tified by a Massachusetts research firm as one of the safest banks in the nation. Executives at the local bank recently learned that Deseret Bank has been included for the third consecutive year on the VERIBANC list of Blue Ribbon Banks. The bank has six offices in Utah County. VERIBANC, the rating firm, is an independent national research organization based in Woburn, Mass. It collects and analyzes data from financial institutions nationwide and rates the relative safety of each based on asset quality, capital strength, management, earnings, liquidity and other criteria. Fewer than 10 percent of all banks na-tionwide qualify for the "safest" category. "Your bank belongs to an elite rrrnnn nf nnnsimllv wpll-ni- n hanks " stated VERIBANC in their notifi-cation to Deseret's officers. Deseret President Hal J. Allen said, "We are very pleased by the rating. We work hard to maintain the highest standards of safety with our customers' funds. "Being rated among the safest banks in the nation particularly by a competent, independent firm -- - makes us feel good and makes us want to do even better," Allen said.
