Fireladies teach fire prevention During the past few weeks the Pleasant Grove Firemen's Auxiliary Auxil-iary has been in the local schools teaching fire prevention programs to the children. The kindergarten through third grades have had the clowns who teach the children how to stop, drop and roll and other fire safety messages. mes-sages. The fourth through sixth grades have been taught how to report a fire. They make the phone call, a real dispatcher answers, and the fire trucks really come to the school, sirens screaming. They have tried to emphasize the importance of knowing the telephone tele-phone number to call the fire department, de-partment, staying on the line with the dispatcher, and making the call from a neighbor's home. It is also stressed that they only call to report a fire when there is an actual fire in order to reduce the number of false alarms which the fire department receives. The children are also taught the importance of their family having and practicing an escape plan and that they know of at least two ways out of the home in case of fire. |
