Because we knew very little about Pleasant drove (except that we felt it was one of the prettiest towns.along the Wasatch Front), we thought the best way to find out about local businesses and upcoming events in the town would be to subscribe to the local paper. "We have not been disappointed. We learned more about the high school 'Back to School Night' in the Review than we had heard from the school. We read about the picture-takin- g project that the PTSA will be conducting this fall. We learned about the recent Community Fair and the remodeled Emergency Center. I used a coupon in the paper to apply towards a permanent and saved $5.00. "We are looking forward to this week's paper to tell us more about the upcoming production of 'On Golden Pond.' "The paper is the way to make your new town your Home Town! " --Ruby N. Riggs "Years ago as a newcomer lo Pleasant Grove. I was surprised how much everyone seemed lo know about our family. I read about you in the P.G. Review." they confided, and I always appreciated the sports and school clippings for our children's scrapbooks "A special offer enticed me to subscribe, and I am amazed how 'in the know' the newspaper keeps me. Reading the P.G. Review quickly helped me feel more at home and involved in local events. "Kvery Wednesday my newspaper is waiting for me in the mailbox, neatly folded, never wet, and always 'on time.' Now I enjoy surprising friends with clippings about their families, and I always push, 'Subscribe to the Review.' "I benefitted greatly from local advertising and attractive feature articles when I owned my P.G. business, and now I enjoy sup-porting local merchants. Having reached the stage where chauf-ferin- g children is the norm, I welcome any opportunity to shop the local sales. It saves me time, money and miles. I'm sold on our hometown newspaper." --Janet Schiller 4 if ' ' Ruby Riggs -j- udged , winner cash i i Janet Schiller -- - judge's winner -- - $15 cash fcVitfcyrtirtVrfiMlrtti'WrttiwmMfti Him T T UliTiT 'm m jwKi.MJM,t: Miii.iK. Clyde and Kathy Fames - random drawing winners cash Random drawing winner "We've subscribed to the American Fork Citizen and the Pleasant Grove Review ever since we moved to Utah County 15 years ago. We enjoy reading the local news, which is generally more entertaining and interesting when you know the people involved. "Hardly an issue goes by that we don't read about a neighbor, a former neighbor, or along with things that directly concern us or our children, such as school and church events, civic matters, sports and even local sales. If the price is right, we much prefer lo spend our dollars right in town. "We feel that subscribing to these local papers makes us feel like we really are a part of our com-munity." -- Clyde & Kathy Fames Judge's Winner '" ,f x Small town news may seem trivial to some but it is important to me. A warm feeling of community comes over me each week when I read the Review. It fills me with pride and draws me closer to 'place,' my place. "The items written in the Review about our town are not printed in other papers or seen on TV. They clue me into lives and happenings immediately around me. Also the advertising helps me find bargains so that I can shop at home. " "I enjoy living in my bedroom community. However, because it is one, Pleasant Grove is out of the limelight of other media, so I rely on the Review to help me feel comfortable and in touch with my peaceful town. "That's why I am a lifelong subscriber and resident." --Beth R.
