Vikings of the Month for Oc tober to-ber at Pleasant Grose High School are sophomores JoAnna Giles and Aaron Anderson, juniors ( 'hristina Beckstead and Robert Sorenson, and seniors Cassie Ormsbee and Justin Tomlinson. T-Shirts presented to these students stu-dents were donated by Doseret Bank in Pleasant Grove. JoAnna is the daughter of Kay and Carol Giles. She is the youngest young-est of five children. She loves life and meets it with a smile on her face. She always goes the extra mile to accomplish hergoals and loves thechallengeof school and all the extra activities. Music has played an important role in her life since she was a little girl. She loves to dance, sing and play the piano. For the past two years she has enjoyed playing the drums in the high school marching band. Traveling has been a fun part of every year. JoAnna has been in 41 of the fifty states. Every trip has been carefully planned and researched re-searched to make it more educational educa-tional and enjoyable. Her main interest is trying to become 16 before her birthday. After graduation her goal is to further her education and travel abroad. Aaron was born in Sheboygan, Wise, and is the youngest of 10 children. He loves gardening and assists his father every year with a very large garden. This summer they put together their own system for staking and drip-watering 75 tomato to-mato plants. Their efforts were so successful that they've harvested a very large crop. , His favorite sports are football, basketball, swimming, racquet ball and girl-watching. Aaron has some real computer talents. He trades computer games with friends and has developed some real skills competing in games such as Chess, Top Gun, Space Quest and Battle Tech. He also enjoys playing his cello in the school orchestra. Although they always seem to have a woodworking wood-working project underway, Aaron and his dad still find time this summer to slip off for fishing or camping or air shows, boat shows or other events all over the place. Tina loves music of all kinds. She plays piano, loves band, sings, writes poetry, prose and short stories. sto-ries. She has won several contests with her poetry and has been published. pub-lished. She is a good student, taking advanced classes. Tina is a candy striper at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. She enjoys church volleyball and five stake dances. Tina was born in Stuttgart, West German and moved to Pleasant Grove from a farming community in Idaho six years ago. She is the oldest child and only girl in her family. Her favorite activities include hiking Timp every summer, visit-ingZion's visit-ingZion's andBryce, spendingtime with extended family in Idaho and Disneyland. She would like to have a career as a psychology teacher in high school. Robert is the son of Eliot Ben and LoReta S. Sorenson. He is the seventh child of 12 children. He has been on the honor roll since seventh grade. He was chosen cho-sen as a Jr. Viking of the Week in 1988. He played a saxophone for three years in junior high. In high school he has been a member of FBLA and the National Honor Society. He was nominated for USAA in Math. Robert's interests are camping, hunting, hiking, backpacking, math and reading. He enjoys collecting dimes. He would like to earn a college degree in engineering with a business busi-ness background. Robert would also like to serve a mission for the LDS Church. Cassie enjoys reading, cooking, sewing and especially, student government. She has been involved in student stu-dent government positions on and off since ninth grade and is now Special Events Chairman on the PGHS Student Council. She enjoys being involved in school activities and had a wonderful wonder-ful experience with this year's Homecoming Week. Cassie also enjoys being outdoors and loves to camp. She loves animals ani-mals and would like to have her own horse. Her career goals are to go into fashion, law, or maybe even a communication field. She likes to meet new people and gain new friends. Cassie loves to travel but so far she has only gone as far asNiaear. Falls. Someday she wishes to traI the world, especially Australia Justin's interests include soccer, soc-cer, baseball, snow skiing, and water skiing, along with skate boarding biking, and riding motorcycles. He has taken numerous awards for his woodworking and has many artistic talents. ' His mother says his favorite thins to do is go dancing. He loves tc choreograph dances and write lyrics lyr-ics for raps. J ustin and his friend just wrote a rap for "Being Drug Free", which the Utah State Drug Free Commit-tee Commit-tee will be using in all of the schools throughout Utah. Music is a very important pari of Justin's life. He plays severa instruments and at the present tim is serving as co-drum major of thi highly acclaimed Pleasant Grovi High School Marching Band. Justin is involved with staki and ward youth activities. Heisi Life Scout and soon will be an Eagli Scout. He has been secretary andpresi dent of the Teachers Quorum am is presently holding the office o Priest in the Lindon Second Ward |
