Show I Helen Y. Harper to retire f : v ' " r ;. Helen i . Harper, elementary- ; grade teacher for 36 years in Alpine I ; School District, will be honored at a I- reception at Grovecrest Elemen-;, Elemen-;, tary in Pleasant Grove. The reception will be held in the library from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May i; 24. Mrs. Harper came to Provo in 1947 to attend Brigham Young University. She received a bachelor of science degree and a master of I science degree in elementary i education from BYU. I- She began her teaching career in 1951 at Lindon Elementary. She has also taught at Forbes, Lehi, and Windsor elementary schools. She has taught fourth grade for the past 14 years at Grovecrest Elementary. Mrs. Harper has served on many educational committees and has been a member of many educational organizations. She and her husband, Max Harper, live in Lindon and are the parents of four children, Elenna Reif, Murray; William, Michael, and Tim live in Lindon. They have seven grandchildren. Mrs. Harper is extremely grateful for her parents and excellent teachers who helped instill in her a "love for learning." She feels that her life has been enriched greatly for having been a teacher in the public schools. Helen Y. Harper She wishes to thank her family, her students of 36 years, parents of her students, district personnel, and staff members who have helped and appreciated her efforts to be an effective teacher. She has been supported greatly by the Parent-Teacher Association. Parents have spent many hours inside and outside the classroom in an effort to improve education and she wishes to thank them for their tremendous support to schools. |
