I Lady Vikings take lead in Region 8 Pleasant Grove High School's Girl's Volleyball has taken over the first place spot in Region 8 as a result of a win over Timpview last Wednesday. P.G. wanted the win, and fought hard for it in three games, 15-8, 8-15 and 15-12. Coach Marie Bone sat quietly in her coaching seat, wat- ' ching and occasionally calling to the girls with encouragement. In the first game, the entire team looked great. They played with confidence, running past Timpview on their own court. In the second game, however, P.G. seemed to lose some of their confidence, and fell behind the T-Birds. The third game was nothing less than a horserace, with one team ahead, then the other. The two teams went point Jbr point. There were no heros among the Vikings, and suddenly they became the team they were in the first game, and were unstoppable. Looking across the court at the full stands of fans, three-quarters were from Pleasant Grove. When they won the third game and the match, the stands emptied onto the court, and the girls and their coaches were surrounded. One observer said that she had never been to a sporting event that stayed so close, with the outcome like a mystery novel. Pleasant Grove now sits in the number one position alone, with a record of 9-1. Timpview and Uintah are tied for second place in Region 8. The team will have one game this week when Uintah will play at P.G. This should prove to be a great match, as P.G. beat Uintah on their court earlier in the season. Lady Vikings are ready for the ball as they down Timp. I view to take over first place in Region Eight. |
