Show Jenn Nickell wins rifle Jenn Nickell, lucky winner of the drawing for the Winchester rifle, which was raffled off by the Viking Booster Club, had an interest in hunting prior to winning the rifle. "And foryoirother ticket holders who -have worried about the gun being 'put to use' be aware that Jenn recently passed her Hunter's Safety Course and had planned to go hunting. She does admit, however, the new gun has already intensified her pursuit of big game. Jenn is a PGHS Alumni and a 'Booster' at heart who attends many high school athletic events on a regular basis. Many other alumni either played or attended the Alumni Football Game, held last week in the Viking Stadium. There was much reminiscing and many old friendships friend-ships renewed. It was fun for all who watched and for most of those who played. Thanks alumni, for taking an 'active' part. Those Boosters who attended the exciting football game against Provo, realized a fringe benefit, as they witnessed an outstanding performance by the PGHS Band at half time. Those who did not attend are really the losers! Such a quality performance doesn't just happen by chance, and the band students, directors and leaders should be complimented for their dedication, commitment and many practice ' hours. Another opportunity to feel Viking pride as one views the scene, the precision, the sharp uniforms and crisp notes in the cool air, Viking Booster feel proud to be associated - with such "V superior" performing group. Even after the performance, the team spirit and pride lingers as the band members return to their place in the stand in matching jackets that shows the same class as they demonstrated at half time. "The most important game to win ... is the next one." Both football coach, Bill Mickleson and volleyball coach, Marie Bone, must agree with this statement from a bulletin board hanging in a gymnasium gym-nasium of an opponent, as they come into the home stretch, both facing key games. The team is still wondering if the pasta dinner served the day before the game (by the Booster mothers) was a contributing factor? Now, they are looking for the right combination of ingredients to carry them past Uintah, which will be ' another 'key' game on Thursday, Oct. 22, in the Viking gymnasium. A win wiil keep the Vikings out front in the lead in Region play. On Friday, October 23, the football team will face Timpview at Timpview for their last Region game. |
