Show Life is what you make it Editor: I'm still smiling thinking back on my married life. I got up each morning, I said to myself, "It's a pretty day. Who shall I phone and talk to while I do the dishes?" We took the children camping, fishing, etc. We've had our share of fun, never waiting until retirement to have fun. Every place we've lived we have had really nice neighbors. I guess it is like seeing the flowers when you drive down the roads, not the weeds. We have been really fortunate in having friends, neighbors, cousins, and men in the ward bring us everything from squash to hauling our hay and selling it for us. Oh, yes, when it turned out bad and the fellow didn't want the hay, it didu't stop these good people. They told us not to worry and they went out and found someone who would buy it for pig feed. That is what kind of friends we have. Don had to retire from Geneva because of illness. Well, that didn't stop our friends. They just keep coming to cheer us up with everything from jokes to potatoes. I have told them, "Thanks, but you can't do that." They said that they could and went right on doing and being their sweet selves. Our children say, "Mom, I can't wait to get to be your age and have a fun life like you have always had and which you still have". Don's ill now, but it won't be for long and we will be out there with Don telling his jokes and me smiling. Just remember life is what you make it and I say to make it darn good. Thanks for being there. -Donna and Don Gillies Lindon. |
