At American Fork Hospital last Monday, Garth Fisher told a large number of senior citizens that chronological aging is often accompanied by heart diseases which are cumulative, hardening of the arteries, worn-ou- t bones and joints, as well as psychological disorders. He pointed out the relationship between fitness and genetics, but explained how an exercise program can change a person's fitness level. Exercise not only prevents bone and protein loss, but it increases bone density and muscle mass. "Exercise is a critical aspect of health," he admonished. Professor Fisher encouraged the use of continuous large muscle rhythmic movements. "Start slowly," he cautioned. "At least 20 minutes a day is needed for ef-fective aerobic fitness. A minimum of three days a week will work, but exercising every day is better." When queried about the intensity of exercise, Garth recommended the "talk test," where you feel tired and sweaty but can still talk. Auditions for Manti Temple Pageant Mon.
