Show Review - Wednesday, May 27, 1987 - Page 4 Tamera Snyder to become bride of Ronnie Musselman Tamera Marie Snyder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale G. Snyder, Lehi, will marry Ronnie Musselman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Musselman, Monticello, Friday, June 5. A reception will honor the couple that evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lehi 2nd Ward, 300 N. 500 East. The event is open to all friends and relatives. Special guests at the reception will be grandparents, Nathan Vance, American Fork; Ray and Ola Keller, Colorado; and Rosie Cole, Meeker, Colo. The bride-elec- t graduated from Lehi High School and LDS Seminary. She has attended Utah Valley Community College, where she was on the honor roll and received her certificate in Child Development. She is presently employed with the St. George Credit Bureau of Southern Utah. Her fiance graduated from Monticello High School where he placed first in state wrestling for two years. He will graduate from Dixie College in 1987 and is Ronnie Musselman 1 Tamera Snyder presently working with Jim I,;,,, Plumbing. The couple will make their w home in St. George. Kevin D. Phipps to claim Angela Welcker as bride ,, A Angela Welcker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max D. Welcker, Boca Raton, Fla., will marry Kevin D. Phipps, Lindon. The marriage will be solemnized on May 30. An open house will honor the couple that evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center, 54 E. Main, American Fork. The event is open to all friends and relatives. The bride-elec- t graduated from high school in Minnesota and has also obtained a degree in nursing from BYU. She is employed at the University of Utah Medical Center. Her fiance graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. He is currently finishing up a degree in psychology at the University of Utah. He served an LDS Mission to Argentina, Cordoba. The couple will live in Salt Lake City. Angela Welcker Kevin D. Phipps r . . - - . 1 i I 11- Open house to honor couple on 50th anniversary The family of Elroy H. and Fern R. Nielson will honor them at a golden wedding anniversary open house Saturday, May 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove 11th Ward, 193 N. 400 East. The couple were married June 1, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents of five children, 20 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. No gifts please. EIRoy H. and Fern Nielson F. Haws and Letha T. Durfey to celebrate golden wedding F. Haws and Letha Taylor Durfey will be honored on their 50th wed-ding anniversary at an open house held by their children Saturday, June 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the American Fork Stake Center, 240 S. Center, American Fork. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. They request no gifts, please. The Durfeys were married June 8, 1937, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Their first home was in Salt Lake City. They moved to American Fork in 1943, where Mr. Durfey worked on construction of the Geneva Steel Plant and later worked at the plant. He organized Durfey's Dry Cleaning in 1946, and the family business grew to include locations throughout Salt Lake and Utah Counties. The Durfey's have been active in community affairs and in their church. Durfey served on the city council and as mayor of American Fork, and was also president of the American Fork Rotary. He was bishop of the American Fork 7th LDS Ward and served on the stake high counsel for 20 years. He is currently a sealer in the Provo Temple and president of the Utah Valley Regional Genealogy Library. Mrs. Durfey has been a supportive wife. She has had callings in all the organizations of the LDS Church, including ward Relief Society president and first counselor in the American Fork Stake Relief Society for V Y..,..,.. Letha T. and F. Haws Durfey She is a Provo Temple worker, where she has worked for the past 13 years. She especially enjoys being a grandmother. Durfey served an LDS mission to Texas, and together the Durfeys have served two church missions. The mission they served in Nauvoo, 111., was one of the highlights of their lives. The Durfey's enjoy traveling and have visited many countries. They are the parents of six children, Evan, Dennis, Jennie Lou, Kathleen, Louise and David, and have 37 gran-dchildren and five great gran-dchildre- n. BYU to present LDS play written by P.G. native V J Susan Howe's play, "Burdens of Earth," will be presented in the Pardoe Theater at BYU, beginning Thursday, May 28, and continuing through Friday and Saturday, June 2 through 6, and June 9 through 13 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee June 8 at 4 p.m. Susan, daughter of Elliot and Maralyne Howe, Pleasant Grove, will attend the opening night of her play. She is now a graduate student working on a doctoral program in English and Creative Writing at the University of Denver. Her play is about the trials endured by Joseph Smith when he and four of his companions were encarcerated in the Liberty Jail during the winter of 1838-3- 9. The Saints had been driven out of Missouri. Oliver Cowdery and several members of the Quorum of the Twelve had apostatized. The Church of Jesus Christ was facing serious difficulties without the help of its leader. Susan has depicted the struggle, sorrow and anguish of Joseph Smith in this very dark hour of his life. From these severe trials came light, Susan Howe knowledge, inspiration and power through Joseph Smith. Susan was raised in Pleasant Grove where she attended Grovecrest, Pleasant Grove Junior High and Pleasant Grove High School. Comedy coming to VCP "Hold Onto June," a musical comedy, will open this coming Friday, May 29, at the Valley Center Playhouse, 780 N. 200 East, Lindon. Performances are at 8 p.m. each Friday, Saturday and Monday. This play is full of fun, laughter romance on a weekenl campoj Tickets can be purchased door.
