They were honored not only with the usual awards, but also by a visit from Mayor David Holdaway. He announced that Nov. 23 through Nov. 28 had been designated as Girls Volleyball Week since they won the state cham-pionship. Mayor Holdaway told the girls that he was proud of the honor that the team had brought back to the community. He noted that this was the first time that any girl's team from the high school had won a state trophy, and he was pleased for the team and their coaches. He also commended the school's administration and their support of the high-lev- programs that had brought the team this far. He said that he understood that the girls were not only fine athletes, but good students. Coach Marie Bone and her assistant coaches, Becky Ritchie and Carol Pratt, then presented the girls with their individual trophies.
