German Christmas program to feature unusual instruments Barbara Carter, wife of K. Codell Carter, will direct the German Advent-Singen program, to be held on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Provo Tabernacle. Admission is free and the public is invited. The program will include the Christmas story from Luke, read in German, traditional German Christmas Carols sung by both adult and children's choirs, a yodeling number, and instrumental music featuring the Hackbrett (Hammered Dolcimer), psaltery, guitar, flute, recorders and organ. Participants will be in traditional German costumes, and the stage , will be decorated in German style, including Nutcrackers on loan from The Nutcracker Factory of Provo. The audience will join in singing several Christmas Carols, including the original version of "Silent Night." The program is sponsored by the BYU German Department. Instrumentalists from American Fork and Pleasant Grove are playing in this program. |
