She con-duced by saying that is is con-stantly thinking up something new to try and that you can do anything with "a little imagination and a glue gun." Cadmus president Afton Miller welcomed members and the opening prayer was offered by Avera Williams. Afton brought to the members attention an article from the Deseret News titled, "Homemade Happiness," featuring Effie Adams sharing many of her excellent recipes. Club members enjoyed traditional Thanksgiving refreshments prepared by Effie, Lurena Warnick and Elaine Walker. Glenna's sister, Donna Luke, was also a guest at the meeting. Cadmus friends were greeted by a charming "Victorian Christmas" display as they met for their November meeting at the home of Effie Adams. Beautifully dressed dolls, wreaths, tree decorations and even flying Santas and velvet ducks were on display to the delight of those present. These lovely Christmas items were all made by the guest speaker, Joyce Pitts. Mrs. Pitts was introduced by Glenna Oveson, Education Com-mittee Chairman. Glenna told about some of the many talents and in-terests Joyce has, which include painting, sculpturing and crafts. Joyce has served for more than 20 years in the homemaking depart-ment of Relief Society and is a very willing worker. About four years ago she became interested in restoring and dressing dolls. Joyce is also a busy mother with three children, nine grandchildren and shares many of her hobbies with her husband, Ralph. Joyce told club members how she became interested in restoring dolls after seeing old dolls at Deseret Industries. Mostly she looks for beautiful faces on the dolls. She may totally build a new body and she finds and arranges wigs to suit the dolls. Many were dressed in elegant costumes, complete with pantalettes, slips, ruffles, lace, makeup and bonnets. Ralph builds sturdy platforms so the dolls can be displayed or used as part of their Christmas decorations. Some of the dolls held beautifully wrapped gifts in their hands. Joyce also talked about making the velvet ducks, wreaths made from grape vines and satin or-naments. One new idea she has made up for their tree this year is the flying Santas. These are made from old Barbie dolls, dressed in Santa suits, hats and beards. They could be used in many ways from tree decorations, to add to packages Jackie Groo graduates from beauty school, joins salon Jackie Groo, daughter of Dallas and Janice Groo, has recently graduated from the Bon Losee Academy of Hair Artistry.
