The monument is made from rocks Jay always puts in his pocket each time Lisa strikes out an opponent. The rocks come from all over the U.S., wherever the Top Ten Flyers have played. Dad's hobby produces monument in honor of daughter's softball pitching Jay Hall, an avid fan of the Top Ten Flyers and father of the Flyer's first-strin- g pitcher, Lisa Hall, watches a lot of softball games, but very few from the bleachers. He is often seen along the sidelines and spectators only need ask him how many batters his daughter has struck out in the game. He keeps track by putting a small rock in his pocket for each strikeout. Last week he made a monument from 452 rocks he had collected during the 1986 season and thus far in 1987. Spotlighted in front is a larger, smoother stone with the letters painted on to indicate a highlight in Lisa's season when she struck out her pitching coach. Last season while in South Dakota to compete in the nationals, the team's host family donated a bag of quartz for the family hobby. Lisa was named Outstanding Pitcher in the Copper Classic Tournament held in Salt Lake City in June. Flyers down Stars to win Sr. Timp Classic Softball Tourney Pleasant Grove's own Top Ten Flyers beat Salt Lake's Utah Stars in the championship game on Saturday night in the Senior Women's Timp Classic in Pleasant Grove. It was a hard won fight, with the final score The Flyers lost out early in the tourney, having to play extra games. Raquel Scott pitched the championship game and did a great job for her team. Their first run in the game came in the second inning when Karen Kelly hit a beautiful double, bringing in Erin Measom. They didn't make any more runs until the sixth inning when Lisa Hall came in. The last run of the game was by Lori Radmall when she came in in the seventh inning. The stands were full for game, with local fans cheering the win over the Flyer's long-tim- e rivals. The two teams have played each other several times over the years, with each winning games against each other. |
