Show r:: i- t; k h :i . New teachers at Grovecrest School this year are, I,-K, Cindy McMillan, Mike La Pray, Rebecca Burnett and Kristen Mamnett. Pleasant Grove PTA Council meets new teachers at Grovecrest School The new teachers at Grovecrest were introduced to the PTA Council during the October meeting. They are Cindy McMillan, Rebecca Burnett, Kristen Hamnett, Mike LaPray, Mr. Harmer and the music specialist, Sally Tracy. Mrs. McMillan is a new sixth grade teacher. She grew up in Hood River, Oregon and came to Utah six years ago. She received her degree at BYU and married Doug McMillan last year. She is helping put her husband through school. She loves sports, has tried windsurfing wind-surfing and enjoys arts, crafts and sewing. She loves to read'and write and hopes to install this love in her students. Mrs. Burnett grew up in Colorado Springs. She recently returned from an 18 month stay in Scotland. She enrolled at BYU last January and completed her education in August. She married Peter Burnett and started teaching the second grade at Grovecrest. She enjoys crafts, musical events and reading as well as volleyball and skiing. Mrs. Hamnett came to the Grovecrest School from Sego Lily in Lehi and Cedar Fort Schools. She was raised in Cache Valley and realized she wanted to teach children with special problems while she was very young because of her association with several handicapped children. She received her degree at BYU with a major in Speech Pathology and a certificate in resource teaching. She and her husband are the parents of a little boy and will soon be having another baby. Mr. LaPray was raised in Highland. He graduated from USU in Psychology. He pursued a graduate degree in Human Resource Administration at the same time he was certifying. ' He is actively involved in Big Brothers of American and is engaged to be married in December. Mr. Harmer loves teaching the fifth grade. He graduated from BYU in Geology and he couldn't find work in his area and started work at Geneva. Following the layoff lay-off he went back into teaching school in Idaho. He returned to Utah to teach two years ago at Westmore Elementary. Elemen-tary. He went on a mission for the LDS Church in Switzerland and he speaks German and minored in the language. He loves American History and riding horses in the mountains. Sally Tracy is the music teacher at Grovecrest. She was born and raised in Shelbyville, Tennessee. She traveled with a musical group, "Up With People," for a year throughout the United States, Ireland and England. She was a member of the Cougar Marching Band and graduated from BYU in April 1986. She taught kindergarten on Keesler Air Force Base last year. |
