Students roller skate to raise funds The Pleasant Grove PTA Council discovered kids love rollerskating and it is a successful way to raise needed funds for community PTA activities. Each of the five schools, Valley View, Central, Manila, Lindon and Grovecrest, held their own party at the Pleasant Grove Community Center recently. Manila held their party on a week night while the other four schools chose one of the vacation days during the UEA and deer hunt holidays. Council President Eva Ercan-brack Ercan-brack reported the Recreation Dept. did an excellent job. They called cal-led the dances, played the music and kept the kids under control. The PTA sent out flyers. The children paid $1 to skate with half of the proceeds going to the PTA. The Council needed $30 from each school. Extra profits will be returned re-turned to the individual schools. Door prizes were given and the PTA gave the children either a cookie or sucker following the two- hour party. Families were invited to participate partici-pate and a few mothers skated and some pre-schoolers enjoyed the invitation in-vitation to come with a brother or sister. The kids had a good time, had their share of spills and it was fun to watch. The Recreation Dept. will assist others desiring to raise funds. There is a lot of time for Christmas Christ-mas parties during the school vacation. |
