Show pTA Council meets new teachers at Grpvecrest ' ' v 7 r V The Pleasant Grove PTA Council et Oct. 3 at the Grovecrest school f0T the Oct. meeting. principal Walt Reimschiissel tfaVe a brief introduction about each f the new teachers at Grovecrest. The new teachers are Randi Harris, Pamela Allen, Mindy Walch, Julie Gurrand Susan Stotts. Bandi Harris is a new teacher from Evergreen; Colorado. She likes making friends, learning new things, aerobic dancing, music and candle'wicking. Her favorite season is fall, she enjoys life and is married to Kevin Harris from Houston, Texas. Pamela Allen is from Pleasant grove. She is married to Kent Allen and they are the parents of three childreen, Melissa, Mike and Travis. Mrs. Allen has taught school for three years, one as a first grade teacher and two years in the high school program. Mindy Walsh graduated from Orem High and BYU. The oldest of nine children, her father is a Chemical Engineer and her mother teachers school. She taught in Lindon and moved to Ohio after her marriage. She is glad to be back in Utah teaching at Grovecrest Elementary. She enjoys Japanese cooking, crocheting, reading, sports and camping. Julie Gurr was raised in Orem and graduated from BYU. She is married to Eric Gurr and they are the parents of a seven month old i jonohtpr named Natalie. Her Karin Smith, left, presents certificates to new teachers at the Grovecrest Elementary. Lyle Clements schedules the use of the trailer. The only requirement is that it is cleaned and any breakage repaired. He also informed the group that Laidlaw Disposal Systems are willing to come to schools and conduct a safety program. Children are unaware of the beeping noise when a solid waste truck is backing up and Laidlaws are interested in child safety. If they contact Bob Wilson arrangements will be made. uo"buv hobbies and talents include music, art and drama. Susan Stotts was born in Gunnison, Gun-nison, Utah. She comes from a family of school teachers. Her father is dean of instruction at Snow College. She loves to sing. She plays the guitar and the piano. She sings with rock bands and will be performing at the Marriott in Salt Lake on New Years Eve. She enjoys acting and has been in many different productions. She loves teaching very much and has a super class. In other business the PTA Council voted to support the Alpine Foundation. Foun-dation. The Alpine Foundation has been formed as a way to raise money earmarked for certain school items. Through the foundation, when money is contributed by business and industry, they can receive a write-off. Donors can designate where funds are to go. In certain categories for large amounts of money the state will match funds, i; Utah County has the highest birthrate in the nation and money is needed. Weber and Salt Lake Districts have raised money through a foundation for several years. High school expansion is in the planning stage. The high school needs a larger media center. They are looking at the possibility of a combined school-community library. Councilman Lloyd Ash is over the library and citizens are requested to call Mr. Ash if in support of a school-community library. The theme for Reflections was given, "Liberty's View." The Statue of Liberty cannot be used and would be disqualified because it should be from her view. Photography will be part of the entries. Each school can submit 20 entries. Dr. Harold Jacklin was present and indicated the trailer used at Strawberry Days to sell strawberries and cream was |
