Show Celebrate Freedom Day at Lagoon on Saturday The Utah State Democratic Committee announced today that Utah Freedom Day '83 will be held at the Lagoon Amusement Park in Farmington on Saturday, May 21, 1983. Events include an essay contest" a drawing for a trip to Mazatlan, an old-fashioned barn dance and an I appearance by special guest Senator John Glenn, candidate for the 1984 Democratic Presidential nomination. Governor Scott M. Matheson said, "Freedom Day is an important celebration of Party Unity and it marks the begining of the political season in which we must marshal all our creative thinking and hard work in order to lead Democrats to victory in 1984. "We look forward to a day of friendship and an opportunity to commemorate democratic achievements by meeting the first American astronaut, it was the foresight of Democratic leaders that was responsible for American leadership in space, We are honored to have Sen. John Glenn, an astronaut and statesman, join us for this important occasion." Festivities are slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. with Senator Glenn appearing at 1:30 p.m. Events will close with the barn dance starting at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited. Come and enjoy the day with the kids. Tickets will be available at the gate. |
