Show . . . 'ft; ' . I Special program gets high marks i The Alpine School District has received high marks on its Special ani Education Department report card. A comprehensive program audit which evaluates how the program fee ! meets state and federal legal requirements was conducted by the state to' office of education. State compliance officer, Ben Bruse, praised the department's efforts. "We are extremely pleased with our findings in the Alpine District," he said. wit "The district has demonstrated some imaginative approaches to providing special education services. The district's departmental : leadership is agressively supporting a continual improvement of skills and competencies for personnel serving the handicapped," he said. The district serves some 2,800 students on a regular basis who are diagonsed as being handicapped. The state compliance team visited 23 seperate service units in the district. The team spent three days interviewing teachers, principals, students, and parents. Con Brady, Director of Special Education in the District, expressed satisfaction with the results of the audit. "The audit demonstrates that our programs are highly rated in terms of quality service to the handicapped," said Brady. |
