Show Unseasonably cold weather slows planting, growing season locally are concerned about moving cattle and sheen to ranueland. In case you hadn't noticed, the : weather remains unseasonally cold i in the Pleasant Grove area. Facts and figures from the US Department of Agriculture showed that Pleasant Grove registered a high of 73 degrees and a low of 32 degrees for last week. There was .70 of an inch of precipitation making a total of 17.06 inches for the current water year. This is 5.79 inches above normal or 151 percent of normal. Average soil temperatures were in the low 50's in Cache Valley, at Salt Lake City and Richfield. They were in the low 70's in the "Dixie" area. These values are from two to 8 degrees below normal. Recurring periods of precipitation produced heavy accumulations in the north and central portions of the state. Heaviest precipitation occurred in the middle of the week. Temperatures were again unseasonally cold marking the eighth consecutive week with generally below normal temperatures. "Another week shot," was the consensus of most weather observers last week. One Cache Valley farmer said that half of his farm had turned into a swamp, with ducks on it. For some crops the planting season is being delayed, plants already in are stunted and ranchers |
