Show w The Review Thursday, February 26, 1981 Page A-- 7 " , , . ; 4 ...j c ; rv - "lucas mageno PL Grove-Stude- nt Named Winner In Poster Contest Lucas Mageno, a fifth-grad- e student at American Heritage School in Pleasant Grove, was named a winner in the annual United States Postal Service region-wid- e "Shop Early-Mai- l Early" Christmas Poster Contest. Sponsored by the Ben Franklin Stamp Club, the contest attracted more than 300 entries from fourth, fifth, and sixth-grader- s through-out the Salt Lake City Management Sectional Center. Lucas's three-dimen- - sional poster was one of six selected in preliminary judging to go to the Western Region Postal Headquarters where his poster was selected from hundreds as the fifth-grad- e winner. The Western Region consists of all the states west of the Rocky Montains. Lucas received an engraved plaque, stamp kits, and a $50.00 savings bond for his . winning entry. Merit Badge Pow Wow Planned The Timpanogos Scout District will hold its Merit Badge Pow Wow Saturday, March 21 and Saturday, March 28 in the Orem Junior High School. Classes and activities will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day and offer special helps for scouts on the more difficult merit badges. Help is offered to all Blazer Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts ,and Explorers. 4 Applications are now in the hands of Troop Scoutmasters and it is important that boys sign up early so that adequate instructors and rooms may be arranged. Deadline for applications is March 15, so contact your scoutmaster now. Class of 76 Reunion Planning Meeting Set A reunion planning meeting for the Pleasant Grove High School class of '76, will be held Sat-urday, March 7, at 7 p.m. at the home of Larry Fugal, 436 E. 700 N., Pleasant Grove. Those with qbestions or suggestions shou-ld call Larry Fugal at 785-246- 5 or Cindy Jones Wyckoff, 373-6O-Birthday Celebration For Boy Scouts The Utah National Parks Council of Boy Scouts of America cut the cake for its 60th anniversary at council headquarters in Provo. The official birthday of the council was Feb. 22. - Sixty years later, now i the council en-compasses over 70,000 square miles and in-volves 28,700 boy scouts. Included 4n the council are 1,000 "Volunteer leaders iyho contribute over twoViillion hours of service to the program. High School Band Sells Pizza's Members of the Pleasant Grove High School band are con-ducting a pizza sale to raise funds for uniforms and a band tour. The large pizza's are priced at $4 and $4.50, leaders reported. The band has ex-pressed appreciation to those in the community who have supported the sale. Those who have not been contacted and would like to order a pizza to help the band should call Faye Bullock, 785-520- Foreign Scrabble Tournament Date Set The public is invited to participate in an open foreign Scrabble Tournament in down-town Provo. Entrants may play in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian or Hebrew. Players may register in the youth, adult or native division. The tournament will be held Saturday March 28, but the deadline for registration is March 14. The registration fee is $1. Players may sign up at the Nationwide Express Translations bookstore at 218 North University Avenue in Provo any time between now and the March 14 deadline. Registration may be done in person or by mail. Free newspapers in the U.S. now have an estimated aggregate circulation of 30 million equal to that of n weeklies and half that of dailies. Counseling Workshop Begins Tonight Methods of dealing with resistive, hostile, dependent and other patterns ' of personal adjustment in client-patien- t treatment will be discussed in the 13th Annual Counseling Center Workshop at BYU, Feb. 26 and 27. David Calof and Michael Flowers, both , psychotherapists - from the West Coast, will join with Eugene T. Buckner, Elvin R. Tanner and Michael Maughan of the BYU Counseling Center to conduct the workshop.
