Photo by Jack Hill 1 5 Girls Sign Up for Strawberry Queen Fifteen young women from Pleasant Plea-sant Grove and Lindon, who have registered to participate in the Strawberry Scholarship Pageant, were introduced at an Orientation Tea Saturday afternoon. The contestants and their mothers met with committee members and special guests in the Public Safety building. Arrangements for the affair were made by Sharon Fullmer, general chairman of this years pageant activities. Harold Jacklin, President of the Strawberry Days Committee, welcomed those in attendance. He explained ex-plained that there will be only one royality this year representing Pleasant Plea-sant Grove in all functions including Strawberry Days. Don Zimmerman, Master of Ceremonies and choreographer for Geniel Waid, Co-chairman, also welcomed the girls and expressed her joy in her envolvement in past pageants. Vickie Young, Entree chairman, shared some thoughts about past pageants and expressed how this could become a growing experience for all participating. The candidates for this years pageant are: Julie Bawden, daughter of John and Norman Bawden; Kerri Brinkerhoff, daughter of Gary and LaReta Brinkerhoff; Sandra Cook, daugher of Mack and Ranilla Cook; Leisa Flinkders, daughter of Neil and John Flinders; Virginia Fulton, daughter of L. Ross and Gretchen Fulton; Cynthia Greenwood, daughter of Noal and Claudine Greenwood; Green-wood; Heidi Hicks, daughter of Robert and Coral Hicks; Shirell Iverson, Iver-son, daughter of Larry and Norene Iverson; Sandra Johnson, daughter of Charles and Joyce Johnson; Julie Pack, daughter of LaVon and June Pack; Julie Peterson, daughter of Thomas and Beth Peterson; Kathy Pratt, daughter of Jacquelin Pratt;Vickey Robinson, daughter of Douglas and Nelda Robinson; Amy Thomas, daughter of Glen and Thelma Thomas; Nan Thompson, daughter of Dennis Thompson. Refreshments were served by Myr-na Myr-na Church and Vicki Young of the Strawberry Committee. The Strawberry Scholarship Pageant is slated for April 19 and tickets are available from each contestant, contes-tant, members of the committee, members of the Elysium club. the production number spoke to the girls expressing his pleasure of working work-ing in this years pagent and said he was looking forward to an exciting experience with the group. He promises pro-mises a fantastic production and expects ex-pects lots of hard work. Rehearsal schedules were distributed. Norma Orvard, special arrangements, ar-rangements, explained about the displayed crowns and silver trays telling that the winners were presented beautiful silver trays which would be a useful momentum of their reign. Dixie Beck, official chaperone for Miss Pleasant Grove, spoke to the girls about their committment and what to expect should they become one of the finalists. The girls reviewed review-ed the contract and signed it as an official of-ficial contestant. Reigning Miss Pleasant Grove, Lisa Reedy, shared some of her feelings feel-ings about her experiences this past year and gave encouragement to the new contestants. Irene McCuistion distributed tickets to the contestants explaining there would be a prize for the most sold. |
