Show Recreation Class in Astronomy Study e Pleasant Grove Recreation Department is presenting a class in Astronomy and Star Study. The class will cover the basic principles prin-ciples of Astronomy. And will actually build a telescope in class. The history of astronomy will be discussed and students will learn about different dif-ferent constelations, the change of the moon and sun within it's cycle. cy-cle. Questions will be answered such as how can we tell what a planet is made of by just observing the light from it. Students will also learn about space travel and properties of the universe. Mr. Loran Swensen the instructor, has had vast experience in Astronomy, and many other subjects. He was a Flight Engineer for the U.S. Air Force, attended at-tended B.Y.U. where he recieved his Bachelor's Degree in History, and Secondary Education. He then went on to recieve experience from B.Y.U. in Social Sciences, and Language Arts. He was a Superintendent of Schools in a small area of Washington State, and has taught Astronomy in Junior College. The Recreation Department is hoping that families, and individuals in-dividuals interested in learning about astronomy will register for the class at the Recreation Department or at the first day of class. |
