Show Gunman Robs Smith Drug Wednesday, Apprehended An armed robbery Wednesday Wed-nesday morning at about 10 a.m. barely disturbed the peace in peaceful Pleasant Grove. William J. Southam of Price, Utah, was arrested at the Maple Hills Motel in Pleasant Grove for armed robbery. Charges are pending. The suspect, wearing a wig and heavy makeup, walked in the front door of the Smith Drug, produced a pistol and took Mary McKay, an employee em-ployee to the back of the store with him. While several customers looked on, he then forced Harvey Har-vey Smith, one of the owners, to hand over all of the cash in the till, and all the 'hard' drugs. This was done at gunpoint. gun-point. The robber then left the store, but Don smith, just arriving, saw what was happening, hap-pening, went back out to his vehicle and followed him to the Maple Hills Motel, where he saw him enter one of the units. At this point, Don came back into town, told the police and having already been alerted aler-ted to the robbery, they went to the motel and arrested the suspect, recovering the stolen property.' Smith Drug has been robbed rob-bed at least twice before, but then it was a breakin at night. Harvey said this was certainly a little different, and the extreme ex-treme nervousness of the suspect during the robbery was a real cause for alarm. |
