Show Mayor Haynie Finally Wins Race with Mills I j V -x - . Mid-season champions were crowned at the July 24th race at Roundabout. Craig Chynoweth took the Modified title, Danny Houston the Super Stock and John Kumz from Santana the Stock. John Leftwich well known Suntana competitor was at the track with his Modified and he won the trophy dash. Danny Houston was given a special award of a security blanket and used it well in the Super Stock main event as he took the win after a roudy fifteen laps. Melvin Radmall was out for the first time with his immaculate im-maculate Super Stock and timed in fastest in the class, he also made the trek to Suntana the same evening to run on the asphalt. Trophy dash in the Super stock class was won by Don West as he pulled the lead from start to finsih. Don then did a re-run in the heat race and once again took the checkered flag. In the Stock trophy dash it was Gordeon Wright. This class has twenty cars and Gordon was one of the four fastest. In the Modified heat race Chynoweth took the win and Jack Elwell pushed John Leftwich over the west turn. In the Super Stock slow heat it was Owen Farley into the lead with Grant Leonard fighting all the way but Owen took the win. The slow heat of the stock class showed Reed Groo taking the win and Steve Hansen winning the fast heat. The stock main was exciting as Steve Hansen had the event all sewed up until a woman driver truned in front of him, he played the part of a gentleman and waited for her and thats all it took for Steve Turner to dash into the lead and the win. The days event was ended with the Fathers race which was won by Pete Campbell and MAYOR WINS Mayor climbs in car and finally beats Frank Mills last Saturday. In censored picture he got a reward and a checkered flag when the race was over. then the Mayor took on Frank Mills with Mayor Haynie taking the win. Special awards of belt buckles with Roundabout Raceway inscribed on them were given to Pete Campbell, Steve Frampton, Blaine Grey, Kent Roundy, Kim Frampton, Theron Nay, Kirk Frampton, Kathy Frampton, Mike Campbell, and John Sorensen. |
