Ron Holman, Walker Mobile 5 CITY SOFTBALL g Packs won the city softball jc championship last Wednesday with two straight wins over 5 Carters and Kazco. j? Alan Green scattered eight jc hits while his Pack teammates K pounded out 15 in beating 5 Carters 8-1. Wes Duvall was 5 four for four at the plate for the X winners. 5 In the second game of the 5 three way playoff, Packs 0 scored four runs on five hits in jc the top half of the first inning Land went on to down Kazco 7-Jay 7-Jay Walkers' single was followed by John Becks' double. Colby Adamson sacrificed and Duvall and Green singled. Jack Hill's triple drove in two giving Packs an early 4-0 lead. In the fourth, Duvall walked, Green doubled and two sacrifice flies, one by Hill and one off the bat of Mike Schoell added two runs to Packs total. Grant Atkinson singled to lead off in the fourth and scored on Becks double for Packs last run. Kazco rallied in the seventh. Dell Young singled, Whitey Ratliff sacrificed him to second Utility, Clarence Wilson, Kazco X By vote of the eight coaches,Q the following league all-stard team was chosen. Where twox players tied, at shortstop, third base and the outfield, bothp players were honored. TheQ coaches could not vote forx members of their own team.X , Pitcher, Alan Green, Packs All-Stars Tie The league all-star game ended in a tie. By agreement of both coaches it was decided to play seven innings and quit. When the last out was posted, the score was 4-4 and that's the way it ended. and Rick Cook hit the "alley" in left center for a triple to score Young. Clarence Wilson singled Cook home but Green got Gerry Berge to fly out to Jim Shoell in right to end the game and give the city championship to Packs. ' |
