Brown, Presiding Bishop, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be main speaker for the kickoff of the 10th campaign by United Way of Utah County, Friday, Sept. 21, Clair J. Hadley, campaign chairman announced today. More than 300 Utah County leaders from business, labor, government and education are expected to join at Provo Friday Fri-day for the kickoff luncheon in the Wilkinson Center at Brigham Young University, Mr. Hadley said. The event will launch a county-wide campaign to support sup-port 17 United Way health, youth guidance and welfare services in Utah County during 1974. Theme of the 10th campaign this fall will be: "Power to the People Turn on and Go the United Way," according to Mr. Hadley, who serves as division I. ' i, . - 1 . VICTOR L. BROWN Will speak at kickoff Hadley stressed the campaign that opens later this week will be "more than simply another fund drive." "United Way of Utah County Coun-ty is an independent, non-profit corporation, wholly owned and directed by the people of Utah County who contribute each year," he said. "This community endeavor, which belongs to us, provides a Way for everyone to meet his responsibility as a citizen and make Utah County a better place to live," he said. He called call-ed on every citizen to unite behind the drive and give a Fair Share. To demonstrate the community commun-ity wide interest in the drive, the Rotary and Kiwanis clubs of Provo and Orem and other county service clubs have designated des-ignated the kickoff luncheon as a regular meeting for members. Reverend David Mote of the Community Congregational Congregation-al Church of Provo will deliver the invocation. Explorers from Utah National Nation-al Parks Council, Boy Scouts of America, will post the colors. col-ors. Special recognition at the 10th campaign kickoff luncheon lunch-eon will go to former presidents presi-dents and campaign chairmen of the Utah County United Way. Bishop Brown, main speaker, was called in 1972 to serve as 10th Presiding Bishop of the LDS hurch. His major areas of responsibility include programs for youth between the ages of 12 and 19, Church Welfare Program Pro-gram and Health Services Corporation. Cor-poration. Prior to his call to the Presiding Pre-siding Bishopric in 1961 he served ser-ved as an executive with United Unit-ed Airlines at Washington D.C., Chicago and Denver.
